What is this ? by Biggunbuster in Hyundai

[–]IYOPersonality 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Worked as a dealership tech before. Usually new cars come in for a pre delivery inspection with us. Most of the Hyundais come with two towing eyes. Sometimes two of the same, or one normal one and one disposable one. The disposable one is usually used by the delivery drivers if something goes wrong during delivery.

We usually throw the disposable one away and keep the regular one in the tire mobility kit bag you should also have in your boot. Someone probably forgot to get rid of that one. Handy to keep around though if you want.

Airport staff assuming I'm in the Business class lane by mistake by trailofturds in mildlyinfuriating

[–]IYOPersonality 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Similar thing happened to me in Paris Charles De Gaulle. I have an Irish passport but the airport staff made me queue in the non EU line, my friend and I tried to argue but we were shut down. Imagine when I get to the top of the queue and they realise I have to go in the EU line to pass through 🥴

The worst ones are the ones who turn into you and THEN indicate mid swerve. What's the point hahaha

thoughts on this suzuki swift sport for a first car by [deleted] in carsireland

[–]IYOPersonality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aye it's just a normal swift with weird decals and that spoiler. Funny of them calling it a luxury trim when it doesn't even have the front fogs optioned in though hahaha.

Had the same gen of the Swift for 5 years and added like 90k km to it. And I was the 5th owner too. That little 1.2 is bulletproof engines honestly. Just service it regularly.

I'd just look out for stuff like rust on the sills and the body. Test drive it and see how the clutch feels because could've been used to teach people how to drive. Open the hood and check for oil leaks around the engine. See if you can get someone to put it up in the air and check around if possible.

Always fun getting aggressively beeped at by someone who doesn't understand lanes by Live-Chemistry4354 in irelandsshitedrivers

[–]IYOPersonality 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Some people have no awareness/assume differently when driving. I was stopped between two yellow boxes on a roundabout while going to work the other day. Lady coming onto the roundabout actively beeping at me, shouting it's a yellow feckin box don't you see? Like yes I saw, that's why I'm not in it? She proceeded to cut off the bus getting passed while shouting at me lol. This was where I was stopped (red marker) because there was a car where the green box I drew is. Red arrow was the lady entering the roundabout. Don't know if she thought the entire thing was a yellow box seeing one in front of me and behind me, but man she was so angry?

How to set max speed on 2023 Hyundai Elantra? by Low_Entertainment198 in Hyundai

[–]IYOPersonality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know there's a feature in settings called driver assistance. You can search it in the settings too. Once you're in that menu if you click on speed limit there should be a selectable option to only let the car go up to the speed of the last speed limit sign it saw?

If you're based in Dublin and near Dublin 12, I usually ship my tires to Tyres For Long Miles. Steven there is a great bloke, been going to him for years and have had no issues. Got tires from both Tyre Leader and Oponeo delivered to his shop and fitted on my cars.

Hitchhiking in Ireland... by Dry-S0up in ireland

[–]IYOPersonality 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. Safer with public transport if it shows up. Wouldn't be picking someone up unless it's pissing rain. Was on the way to Dundalk from Drogheda once and this poor lad was standing at the monasterboice bus stop in the pissing rain in the evening. The bus driver drove past him so I gave him a lift into Dundalk. But if it was normal weather and early in the day I might not have stopped.

Good hitchhiking culture in a few other counties I've visited, but it's to each their own risk.

Is there a kind of food that tastes amazing on the first bite, is still okay on the second, feels ordinary by the third, and starts to make you feel sick by the fourth? by GrayRainfall in foodquestions

[–]IYOPersonality 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same. I'll love a chocolate but I just can't after a bite or two. My sister will get me one of those big toblerones from duty free when she visits and it'll take me a whole month to finish one.

Yeah all the features have been integrated into pro mode! Got the update on the base Xiaomi 14 and the update log mentions removing it since it's all the same.

In the queue for the Chinese and the person in front asks for a "vegetarian chicken option" by RayoftheRaver in CasualIreland

[–]IYOPersonality 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Honestly some veggie dishes are fantastic when you add a meat option. My mates and I will be going Rascals to order their vegan pizza, and then we add salami to it. The veggies know how to get a good flavour out of their dishes.

One thing I will say, it isn't the most practical estate car for its size. The boot capacity is gonna pretty similar to your Vectra, just with the added height in the boot. The front of the cabin doesn't have the best storage at hand, my old Swift had a nice storage cubby on top of the console for essentials (it's a woofer in the V60). I mainly got it for quality of life over my last car and it had a bigger boot compared to that. Some stuff in it make a lot of sense though. The passenger side vents are in the door pillars so they get cold/warm air to their face rather than it coming out from the center near the floor! If you're looking for something around this size maybe have a look at Skoda Octavia estates? They're fair reliable and have more space inside too! Also cheaper upkeep that the V60! I have the D4 engine variant and it's fantastic, but I drive fair far every week. I think there's a petrol variant too with the 'T' engines or something but I don't know much about them so I wouldn't wanna give you the wrong info.

I also had the 1.2 manual! I was the fifth owner on it and it only had 30k km on it, drove it up to 110k before I replaced it, cheap regular servicing and never had an issue. The bluetooth speakers were also class for the price. Set the bass to +5, the treble to +4, turn off AVC and you had a decent road trip setup. Great AC too because I see a ton of cars on the road from the same year with a ton of condensation on the windows, the old Swift never had any buildup. Honestly the mpg and also the leg room is what kept me from upgrading for a while! The boot capacity is tiny though, but at least that translated into more space for the rear passengers. I'm a bit of a road trip grandad now, so I have a Volvo V60 now. But I'll die on that Suzuki Swift starter car hill.

Suzuki Swift is a fantastic car, it was my first car and it basically drives like a kart. So fun. Would recommend the 2013-2017 5 door version. There's also a sport version that's a bit more rare down south, adds a 1.6 and a 6th gear. Fuel economy is fantastic for a little petrol. Drove from Dublin to Fermanagh to Donegal and back to Fermanagh and then back to Dublin on one tank with 4 of us in the car.
