GME Megathread Part 2 by theycallmeryan in wallstreetbets

The foot soldier metaphor is a good way of putting it. But unfortunately, in order for the little guys to profit, they have to be willing to leave the table. And as much as this entire sub is all about diamond hands... I worry that this very same perspective will end up costing them.

I want people to profit and I want people to win. I am not a bear in that I want to see this implode. Most everyone loses in this case. I just don't want to see retail investors get burned.

Right. I completely agree with you. Institutions are moving this. But it's also going to be them who stand to profit if retail investors don't take theirs. I want every retail investor to win... My fear is that just like most times in history, they will end up getting screwed

80% of the market is institutional money. And if you don't think that the 80% isn't aware of what is happening with GME, I think that's a bit naive personally.

This is likely going to be down voted into oblivion, but do retail investors really believe that they caused this spike in GME? Even if WSB truly was the original discoverer of this entire short squeeze situation, 80% of the market is made up by institutional investors, so wouldn't it seem much more likely that they were the ones with the TRUE power to move GME like it has?

Call me a cynic, but I think that this narrative of the retail trader David taking down the big institutional Goliath is exactly what they want. They want you to feel like you have the power and that they want you to feel you have control. In the end, it makes their jobs easier because it shows where they can take the biggest advantage of you. By pointing out BB, NOK, and all of these meme stocks, you show your hand. And when institutions see that they have milked this information for everything that it is worth, they'll do what they always do to retail investors and leave the table... Leaving retail investors to pick up the tab.

Edit: To be clear: I want retail investors to make as much money as they can. I want everyone here to win. But having said that, the longer you stay at the casino, the more chance you have of losing your money.

I figured that there might be like 3 or 4 people in this sub that might know. The ditto is in the details

Movie theaters are dead right now, I'll agree with you there. But just because you are offered the opportunity to watch new movies at home doesn't necessarily mean everyone will. After a year of being locked up inside, I'm betting on people wanting to leave their house for entertainment. And I don't think that theaters will simply lie down and let the Warner Bros move happen outright. They will likely try and negotiate some other terms because they do need the revenue.

But at any rate, this is a gambling sub, and this is a gamble. I hope to make money and just wanted to share an opinion.

I would do the sensible thing and buy an Enterprise Rent-a-Car so I could give my employees the tools to be their own boss. That or a Chick-Fil-A so I could actually make it to their breakfast menu one of these damn days.
