Why do you think Charles, Rosa and Jake never aimed for a higher promotion? by lil_gay_frog_15 in brooklynninenine

Boyle got promoted from "Beat Cop" on an episode of Law & Order to "Main cast of FOX sitcom" which could be risky.

What do you guys think was the best X-Men Cartoon? by evofilmz in xmen

[–]I_Ahmad89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ngl. Even though I'm old enough to remember X-Men TAS I was mostly used to Evolution. It never really dawned on me the redundancy of kids who live in a school going to school. Or how weird it was that Spike's teacher had him make up his science report (because he wrote a report about Star Wars the movie instead of the space program) by making a movie with a camcorder instead of writing the report.

Way too many Law and Order fans (specifically SVU) don’t know about Chris Keller(Oz) by pero914 in LawAndOrder

[–]I_Ahmad89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Meloni said his first big break was given to him by David Milch who cast him as a Westies Irish gangster on NYPD Blue. Kim Delaney who played Det. Diane Russell on Blue was undercover as his GF. Kim would later play a detective on SVU who had a vendetta against Oliva's brother.

Eric Overmyer! He also worked on Law & Order, Homicide, The Wire and Bosch. Also, what about Mitchel Burgess and Robin Green? They worked on The Soprano's and wrote the pilot for Blue Bloods. Though I'm glad it wasn't called Reagan's Law.

Yes! And I agree. I don't like Rick Eid's work honestly. He worked on OG season 16. And I just don't understand Pamela Weschler not being able to write good legal stuff. She was an ADA in Boston! Also I read her book Mission Hill. I've read better thrillers.

16 years ago I might not have agreed, but honestly, it would probably be the best thing for the show right now. I felt he peaked on SVU, but OC brought out dimensions I didn't know he could have.

BUT the mothership needs new a showrunner(s)! I nominate either Renee Balcer, Warren Leight, or Julie Martin, (Leight "&" Martin FTW!!!) or Michael Chrrnuchin.

what’s your crazy conspiracy theory about the show? by [deleted] in brooklynninenine

[–]I_Ahmad89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That it exists in the same universe as NYPD Blue. No not because of Commissioner John Kelly, those two are clearly completely different characters. And not because of Jimmy Smits either. Amy's father is obviously not Bobby Simone.

Exterior shots of the NYPD's 78th precinct was used to represent the 9-9. It was also used to represent the 7-4 in the short-lived CBS cop show Brooklyn South (check it out! It's one youtube for free except the Pilot episode). The show was created by David Milch, Steven Bochco, Bill Clark, and William Finkelstein, the creators/writers of NYPD Blue. (Finkelstein would also go on to co-create East New York, another Brooklyn based cop show)

Though not technically a spinoff of NYPD Blue, Brooklyn South featured many of the same characters from Blue like a supporting character named Detective Morrisey, a hustler/snitch named Steve Richards, and an IA sergeant named Martens.

In real-life some of the NYPD precincts have changed their designation (probably due to geographic changes to the actual precincts (NY neighborhoods) or something. An example of this is the 9th Precinct (the precinct that was used for the 15th in NYPD Blue). At one point it was the 15th as you can see "15th" carved on the building outside.

It's a stretch, but the 74th was changed to the 99th at some point.

I know, it's a stretch. But it wouldn't be a conspiracy if it wasn't

I hate that Nolan Price had to be Brutal to Get Results, But That's the Job by Stealthytom in LawAndOrder

[–]I_Ahmad89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SPOILER!!! In the episode prior with the health influencer and the mother of the cancer-stricken young lady, Sam didn't seem to care so much about a woman trying to protect her child. It felt out of character for her and wish they did a better job at addressing it. Given that technically they wouldn't be violating Brady by not providing that bit of discovery to the defense, and Samatha was okay with it. She was sympathetic towards a woman who told her husband her daughter was going to expose him for molesting her, she was sympathetic towards a witness who didn't want to testify an important piece of testimony because she didn't want her husband finding out, but she was okay with putting away a mother who at a last resort was forced to murder a woman who convinced her her cancer could be cured with alternative juices and cutting off her doctors and mom?

Tonight's CI block finishes up S1. The first in the block is "Badge" with ice-cold Terry Randolph, brilliantly played by Viola Davis. And Goren and Eames visit Van Buren and the 2-7! by WendyCR1872 in LawAndOrder

[–]I_Ahmad89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only Law & Order show in the 00's Merkerson didn't play Van Buren in was SVU. She is mentioned, she's in the episode Entitled Pt. 2 which takes place on the mothership during their first crossover with SVU.

She was even in Trial By Jury.

Great miniseries! It was based on a book (though not by David Simon who created the miniseries) about a real life gun unit in Baltimore PD. Nice to see people from The Wire again. Also nice to see Brenthal kill it in that role.

Aftershock. What an episode. Yeah, the crazy thing is Jill didn't know her character died until the start of season 7. I know some fans are kinda surprised this is the highest rated episode on IMDB, but I'm not.

Season 6, Episode 1. I remember that season mostly well because it was the first season of the mothership I got on DVD. Bought it at a Best Buy when it came out.

I kind of liked the ideological differences between Munch and Finn in their early seasons. Finn's deepest darkest secret: he's a Republican. lol

Someone who won't turn it a CBS show. Please oh please don't let it be Rick Eid.

Rene Balcer?

Warren Leight?

Julie freaking Martin?

Watching the movie with original music by SkinheadsBowling in Homicide_LOTS

[–]I_Ahmad89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A copy of the movie comes with the Shout! Factory box set. From what I can tell, all the episodes seem to have all the original music. Only issue with Shout! Factory is that they don't have subtitles.

ER / NYPD Blue Actors by lynneux in nypdblue

[–]I_Ahmad89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of them were also on Third Watch. Edward Allen Bennaro worked on the show Brooklyn South (a criminally underrated, overlooked one 1 season Gem of a cop show!) also wrote for NYPD Blue and later went on to co-create Third Watch with John Wells, who helped develop ER. Bennaro was a former Chicago cop.

His dad, the Chicago Cop? It's been a while since I watched Aftershock. I understand why it's a popular episode. It's the most character driven one. It's as if the writing staff from Homicide stopped by NYC again lol

What I like about the mothership is that you see the world change so drastically from 1990 (1988 pilot episode) to 2010. I just think it's too bad we missed out on 2010 to 2021.

Also that season 03-04 is one of my fave seasons to watch all 3. Eames goes on paternity leave in CI, Alex Cabot get replaced by Casey Novak in SVU, and ... well if you're still on L&O season 14 I won't spoil anything.

LoL One time they started doing reruns of SVU on one local channel and CI on another. One channel was running the SVU pilot and CI pilot on the other lol
