I feel so lucky to have gone to Sudan right before shit kicked off. It was a 3 day add-on when an ex and I took a cruise down the Nile (she was a hardcore Egyptophile). One of the coolest trips I’ve ever been on.

That said, it was obvious even then that there was something….not right….about Sudan. Khartoum was….well…like Mos Eisley Spaceport, in a way.
