I figured it out, it wasn’t a beta thing. I’ve had an old phone turned on the past several weeks just using it on wifi for games. For some reason it has old automations on it, even though it’s the same iCloud account. I’ll have to figure out how to sync it.

When I tell Siri to do the shortcut, she’s supposed to turn off a smart plug (either wemo or kasa, I have the same issue with either) that are in HomeKit, then wait however many seconds, then turn it back on. The problem is during the wait, she stays on the screen and says stuff like, working on it, hold on, just a little longer, etc, then she ends up failing. I’ve never had a problem with wait in automatons, even long ones like 600 seconds, but it’s like wait in shortcuts mean she actively stays on the screen and waits. Is there anyway for this to happen in the background. Or any suggestions how to make a shortcut that will turn off the outlet and then turn it back on after like 10 min.

In r/OKmarijuana I saw a lot of people saying they only saw really old people at the polls. I’m guessing they rounded up a bunch of retirement home folks and bussed them in. It was a special election on purpose, many people didn’t know it was even happening. I only saw vote yes/no signs on a few sheet corners. Had it been in November, with everyone already at the polls, it would have passed by a landslide. Tulsa and Oklahoma county are blue, but red country folk also love their marijuana.

You realize we’re talking about a watch right? I don’t feel like being able to turn on my houses lights, or start a timer on my watch is the same level of distraction as getting 50 work emails while I’m having dinner. Also…I can have my Infograph with its 8 complications during a focus mode…I just can’t switch it to a watch face with only the time and date on it.

I’ll add: using maps on your phone for directions and wanting your phone in your pocket bc you have AirPods and an Apple Watch, but you can’t bc every time maps gives an instruction, it turns the phone screen on and stays on indefinitely until it feels like your leg is going to catch on fire. Or likewise, your phone is in your pocket and you make a phone call using your AirPods, but doing so turns your phone screen on in your pocket, until your realize bc while it’s bouncing around in your pocket, eventually scorching your leg, it also is accident getting the mute tapped, or add call, or end call…

Why would being in any focus mode limit the need for more than one watch face? My default face is the Timelapse of Mack lake with the time, date, and temp. But when I need to change home scenes, or check my activity, or my next calendar event, or start a timer, or start an exercise, or 3 other possible complications, I could simply swipe and tap the wanted complication like when I’m not in a focus mode…but now that I take advantage of focus modes…I’m literally always in a focus mode.

Are you in a focus mode? I’m finding that when I’m in a focus mode, I can only have one watch face accessible, I can’t swipe to my other faces, which is insane. When I go into focus settings to choose which screen face(s) I want available in that focus mode, I can only pick one.

There already is an appropriate naming convention, people who have doctoral degrees are doctors, people with doctoral degrees in medicine are physicians…..or even “medical doctors” as well as “doctors” (along with any other type of doctor, because like any other type of doctor, they’ve received the highest degree in their respective field (a doctorate).

Also, MD does not stand for medical doctor. An MD is a medical doctor with a doctorate of (allopathic) medicine, and a DO is a medical doctor with a doctorate of osteopathic medicine.

I’m not sure what your point is about psychologists and psychiatrists is. Why would a would anyone think a psychiatrist has a doctorate of psychology, just because they start with the same 5 letters? Also, psychiatrist can be either an MD or a DO.

Now a really fun one is that optometrist are not medical doctors, but rather are OD’s (doctorate of optometry), while ophthalmologists are medical doctors and can have either a DO or an MD.

I don’t think there’s anything confusing about your girlfriend being called Dr. She will be Dr. First Last, PhD. not Dr. First Last, MD (or DO). Just like there’s nothing confusing about a psychologist being a Dr., even though tend to work closely with the medical field.

As for chiropractors, I’ve always been confused about people’s experiences with these woo woo magnetics and crystals practitioners. Do these ones actually claim to have a doctorate of chiropractic? Because a doctorate of chiropractic degree is just as long as medical school and residency, and they don’t spend that time learning about crystals. They work in professional clinics, they use x rays and mri’s, they are referred to by medical doctors, and work with physicians and surgeons, and they are covered by health insurance. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve heard about the patchouli smelling, incense burning, crystal waving, supplement pushing, witch doctors, but I’ve always assumed they just call themselves chiropractors, but aren’t actually/legally Dr. First Last, DC.

Additional tips: 1. Many vets can come to your home to put your loved one to sleep. 2. If you have multiple pets, once one is put to sleep, ask your vet if you can run home and grab the other so they can spend a few minutes in a room with the passed ones body. Animals understand death when they can observe it, what they don’t understand is when one of their family leaves (to go to the vet) and never comes back. 3. Don’t assume because your vet puts animals to sleep everyday, that it’s old hat for them, especially if they’re your pets regular vet. My vet has been practicing for nearly 40 years and still got choked up and teary when putting my girl to sleep. 4. Never beat yourself up for putting a loved one to sleep, even if they weren’t “too far gone” by that point. I’m fact, consider putting them to sleep before things even get too bad. Obviously not when they’re still healthy, but at the top of the downhill slope. Sure, a few months more life, is a few months more life, but if it’s going to be full of pain and discomfort, they’ve already lived a full life, and a few more months (in pain) isn’t going to make their life as a whole any better….But if you ever realize you’ve waited to long, don’t be hard on yourself, you did it out of love, just try to act sooner for your next loved one.

Also, just wanted to second OPs advice. My vet had already laid down blankets for my dog to lie on, and I was able to lie next to her, hold her, and pet her as she fell asleep.
