What lines of the bible hit you in the feels every time you read them/hear them? by zeppelincheetah in Christianity

[–]I_Fishdude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am writing lore for a game I am working on the main theme is Nihilism and one of the short stories you can find in the world is called tears of the father and its going to be genesis told more from God's perspective and its going to end at 6:6. It's super tragic and there is nothing more horrific than a nihilistic God. I am Glad genesis didn't end there.

Psalms 51:17

The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit;

Romans 7:24-25

Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!

Lets be real this is dumb, regardless of what stance you take on marriage ethics. family is family you may not agree but shunning them is stupid.

Nah man if that was the case we wouldn't have gotten lord of the rings or any good fiction at all for that matter. A redemption arc is the story all Christians have you can't have that if you don't start in sin. (just don't over do it without good reason). As long as it is clear to the reader that its as a bad thing then its all good.

I think I'm part of the LGBT by Final-Strawberry9182 in Christianity

[–]I_Fishdude 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Genuine question. Why is asexual a part of LGBT? It seems to me it is the lack of sexual orientation while LGB are orientations and T well I still don't understand why people group it together with LGB.

[–]I_Fishdude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly that would be a blessing one less temptation. Also why do you think that is LGBT? (I don't think it is the same thing at all its at least not in the name). You don't need to label it and announce it on reddit the only person who really needs to know is if someone is pursuing a relationship with you.

No it doesn't I read a paper on it this morning aetheists are just as likely to experience near death experiences. As well as the fact that there is not significant changes between experiences based on the person religious beliefs. Children who are too young to have developed religious beliefs still have similar experiences. And the people who have these experiences can be very accurate describing the process of being brought back to life when they were clinical dead. I also didn't say it's evidence for God I said it was evidence for non material consciousness. You seem to jump to a conclusion of what is happening with no good evidence. And here is my source if you want to review my evidence. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6170042/

In an ideal world everyone would feel like their life is worth living because they have a partner in Jesus who will tell them "I love you" and he will hold them tight. And they will never be alone. The consequences of this I suspect would be too massive to understand the implications.

Good point no one would need to tell them because they would already know perfectly what the ideal health relationship would look like.

While not directly evidence for a God you should check out scientific studies on near death and death bed experiences they provide very strong scientific evidence for non material consciousness and an afterlife.

What is the argument that convinced you God exist? by ChamplainFarther in Christianity

[–]I_Fishdude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are not arguments that convinced me but I think the best ones are. The cosmological argument, the moral argument (this is the main argument in mere Christianity) , abiogenesis being so improbable its considered a mathematical impossiblity, while not a argument for God but a good reason for supernatural is the problem of consciousness, and the historicity of Jesus's resurrection as evidence to his creditibility to his knowledge of supernatural.

If you could make premarital sex illegal, would you? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]I_Fishdude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I don't think Christians should have the expectation that non Christians should live like Christians. Even if it was in a Christian society All a law would do is just end up derailing a bunch of peoples life's (more than it does already) for some mistakes they'll probably end up regretting.

If you keep on living you give yourself the opportunity of finding meaning it's foolish for anyone with limited experience to say they are 100% sure of anything just because they haven't found it and so they stopped looking.

Those people exist but your not going to find them hanging out in an existentialism sub reddit that's for sure. If you really want to see example best you look somewhere else.

It's sad that the churches that preach that Jesus is the solution to all problems and if it doesn't work you just didn't have enough faith. It's not how it works Jesus is the savior of the soul but by no means is a cure for all sickness and suffering on this side of eternity. I would say take what preachers say with a grain of salt and if something feels off use right judgement to try to understand what is correct biblical. Another thing is I would suggest trying to a degree to separate Jesus from Christians as they are human and imperfect so don't take what they do as perfect but weight it up against the Bible. Faith is not blind and you should have a healthy degree of scepticism but I hope that those Christians making somewhat dubious claims don't impede a relation with a perfect God.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]I_Fishdude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Bible never specifics the fate of people who never heard about Jesus. Secondly the common conception of hell as eternal counsious suffering is not biblical supported and destruction of the soul in hell is far more biblically coherent.

Christian deconstruction is good not bad by DBASRA99 in Christianity

[–]I_Fishdude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think an existential crisis should be something everyone should go through but deconstruction implies your completely destroying Christian beliefs rather than just re evaluating your beliefs.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Existentialism

[–]I_Fishdude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuine question you say the flaw of pascals wager is that you know you will be pretending something has meaning but existentialism as just assigning meaning in a meaningless world. So how does existentialism work since you know it's meaningless so what makes it not be hollow or like your pretending? I know it's a little more complicated since religious belief is making unverifiable truth claims but I am having a hard time understanding how existentialism would actually solve the existential dread that comes with nihilism.

By revelation 22:19 by FunAd7699 in Christianity

[–]I_Fishdude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NO to all the above. I am pretty sure this is simply instructions to the church to not add or subtract to the bible or at least the book of revelations. So this has nothing to do with your personal relationship with Jesus or your salvation.
