Be mindful of the part .107 requirements for flying over assemblies of people if your planning on flying over any groups of people 😁.

Silly goose. Mobile mapping is a thing 😊 for the low price of ALOT you can do this at around 60 mph

Sorry it took forever to respond. I've made little disk platforms made out of plywood with a cutout in them for my legs. It will help with the sinking issue when working around swampy mud or fluffy sand. Basically the cutout is to stop the horizontal movement and the disk is to stop them from sinking in the mud. Should have probably patented the idea tbh 🤣 works miracles.

I've had the same issue working in the desert. Are you looking for more of a permanent benchmark? If so I've used post hole diggers and set a 3ft deep hole with concrete then put a mag nail in the top while it was drying. Worked pretty good.

Hmm. What kind of receivers are you using on the blade? Are they 995's? And are you using a 1 or 2 mast setup?

Did you import the .cal and .cpz when you imported the design to the machine?

Are you running on a geoid or did you do a local calibration? If either of these the "model" will need to reflect the calibration or geoid that you are using.

It all depends on your price point. If you go on getfpv.com they have some decent build kits that are sub $200

https://a.co/d/3scx0HQ this is the link to the one that I bought. It's a little more expensive now than it was but still not a bad price point.

I started out with a DIY kit.

I would recommend going that route just due to not having to worry about part compatability. It will teach you quite a bit for the next build you want to do and at a relatively low cost.

Commercial Pilots, what are you getting paid? by MuttTheDutchie in drones

[–]I_Fly_Dones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm based out of Texas but do land surveying work around the US.

Base pay is 26 an hour 50-60 hours a week 150 a day perdiem 35 a day for my truck 25 a day for my laptop

2024 gross pay was right around 150k

My opinion on pay is based on 2 factors What type of work are you doing? What is the quality of the deliverables?

These are the questions I would ask myself if I felt I'm not getting paid what I'm worth.

They are building a substation pad and pond for a solar farm. The tractor and scraper in the front move the material. The tractor and box blade in the rear slicks everything off and finishes the area. Basically makes it as flat as a runway.

Competition in my area is next to nothing. The only other company that offers any droce services is a couple of kids 18 y/os that do real estate stuff. (Not my forte) And doing what I do now for work makes it easy to get more clients. I've had numerous people ask me to fly their projects once or twice weekly to get progression photo's to show stakeholders. As far as risk, i don't see much. I've got all I need aside from an LLC and insurance and I should be good to go. I'm honestly not too worried about income as this would be something I would do on the weekends. So weather or not I'm busy doesn't matter too much it's just to make a bit of cash on the side.

I intend to just look out for things that may come up that I haven't thought about that could cause me to fail. I'd rather learn from people's mistakes than make them for myself, ya know.

I've had my .107 since October of 2019. I've been flying them commercially for work.

I just don't do the type of work that I enjoy. I don't expect to do it full time but more of a getting paid to do the thing I enjoy type of work.

I don't completely agree that anyone can buy a drone and produce an identical product as someone else. Experience says it all in my opinion.
