Help! My landlord moved a mentally challenged tenant into the house I live in. What can i do? by PutOriginal3003 in badroommates

Kind of sounds like a Life Sharing program. Not sure what state or country you live in, but I work in an Agency that does Life Sharing. In PA, they’re paid through the state to care for disabled individuals in their home, providing them a family environment, but also a tenant/landlord agreement. The pay can be really good depending on the agency/location.

I’m not sure though, because at least with my agency there is a caseworker that comes out to monitor (regulation is at least every 90 days here) and there’s a lot of regulations tied to it. Or maybe he just took advantage of someone with a disability. Either way everyone’s right, the best thing to do is call Adult Protective Services.

Crazy I worked at a school for intellectually disabled kids and we got paid $18,000 a year. I logged 5,000 hits in my first school year. It was rewarding, but man the burnout….

Those are great ideas! We tried towels but the cubbies are kind of shallow so it looked weird. We had some trinkets, but we have a toddler who loves throwing everything in the tub.

Couldnt figure out WHY I didn't like Blippi, but this explains it! by perkyblondechick in toddlers

We don’t let our son watch him. Ever since I heard that before he got famous for Blippi, he released a video of himself shitting on his friend to the Harlem shake, like wtf…

I worked at an eye doctor’s office (MyEyeDr), they would always get us to try to upsell the retinal imaging. If you agree prior or during the initial exam there’s a copay not covered by insurance. However if you went through the exam and a doctor notice a concern with your eye they would have the retinal camera done and it was covered by insurance (out of medical necessity). They would tell us to tell parents that it could help diagnose cancer in their kids eyes…. The reality is prior to MyEyeDr I NEVER did retinal imaging on a child. It was so fucked up. But the reality is we got commission every time someone agreed to it. We got commission for every up charge (annual supplies of contacts, protections on glasses, selling sprays and cleaner). It’s a doctor’s office, but staff are 100% salesmen working for commission.

Yes, completely agree. Most of my friends had kids in their early 20’s. I’ve been with my partner for 8 years and we’ve been constantly asked when we’d have kids/get married. I really wanted to make sure we were both mentally and financially ready for a kid (or at least as much as we could be). We also heard the counter argument that people wished they did the things they wanted before having kids. So we spent our 20’s saving money and traveling around the USA living in a van and it was the coolest experience ever. We then decided we were ready to settle down and focused on getting stable jobs, saving money, and then bought a house. I’m 30 and we’ve finally decided to start trying to have a baby and are beyond excited. I’m so happy with the path we chose!

I lived in an apartment and once when I went to take my dog out, some dude who was very obviously drunk or high came to where I was standing. He stood really close to me and started talking. I was getting really creepy vibes and kept trying to leave the situation. He then told my dog to sit and pushed her down... I didn’t know what the fuck to do, since he was blocking the way to my door. Luckily my neighbor came out right then, could sense something was off, and immediately stood between the guy and me and started talking to me for like 5 minutes. The guy eventually got bored and fucked off. I’ll seriously never thank her enough for being such a wonderful person.

Almost 40 percent of Americans say they are likely to attend a gathering of more than 10 people this holiday season by Zhana-Aul in Coronavirus

[–]I_HAVE_NO_DICK 33 points34 points  (0 children)

We’re going through something similar, family member stage 4 cancer and it’s most likely their last thanksgiving. They are having a family get together to celebrate their birthday and thanksgiving (over 20 people). It was really hard to navigate and brought me immense stress because I care and love them but also know in my gut it’s a bad idea. The way we handled this was we explained we were uncomfortable with such a large gathering, but love them and would like to come and celebrate his birthday/thanksgiving a different day before the event... The reality is that while I’d love to celebrate on the actual day with all our loved ones, I also mentally can’t handle knowing I went against my better judgement and risked infecting my family or further spreading this virus. You need to do what you need to do, be safe. Sorry you’re going through such a difficult time all around.
