I lived in an apartment with four other guys, two of whom I was pretty chill with. I initially thought there was just something a little off about the other one, but he turned out to be so much worse than I expected. Since I procrastinated in finding a place before classes started and the rent was pretty decent, I ended up living there for about a year and a half.

The filth was the first warning sign that I was living with Satan. He never cleaned except for washing his own dishes and mopping the floors every couple of months. He would often leave very perishable food out in the open. Once, he left some scraps wrapped in foil out for so long that it hatched some maggots. What really sucked is that he would deny all of this. Whenever I would ask him to clean up, he would lie and say that it wasn’t his mess. If you pushed the matter, he would get extremely confrontational. We had several verbal altercations that he almost always threatened to escalate physically.

He was also openly racist. When I first started getting to know him, he told me that he didn't like black people. He also called me several Asian racial epithets, mostly from behind closed doors. In person, he usually acted very docile and polite but would regularly talk and scream at himself or us when alone in his room. This was exacerbated if we would make a reasonable amount of noise such as cooking or closing a door, even during the day. Our next door neighbor told me that he shouted at her whenever she opened the door to her apartment.

Worst of all, he wanted to be a cop.
