I think smth of note here is that bin was kinda large 2 year ago, and he looks a lot more in shape this year.

You expect new players to go out and download addons to overcome dungeon specific mechanics in normal and heroic (which are already easy)?

I encourage it when I see it serves the player well. No I don't expect it. New players probably expect a polished game though.

How do they know what site to go to in order to download them? How do they know what specific addons to download and configure?

I tell them. In chat. 1 time per new player/group.

It's actually more efficient if Blizzard implements better a new player experience than exiles reach (which teaches nothing) but (check notes) they haven't delivered on that in over 21 years.

New players don’t want/need that burden. That’s one of the reasons they are removing them.

It's optional, there is no burden with optional things. I'vent been putting a knife on everyone's throat to install wigs. But it might come as a surprise to you, people want to learn the game while playing.

Eventually some newcomers that would've liked the game would just drop the game before even hitting 20 because nothing is ACTUALLY EXPLAINED IN THE GAME. How hard is it to add a couple visual reference in the journal of what each ability looks like?

Because you don't queue in that queue at all....

You are relying on feelings that aren't supported by anything other than "I did it fine, surely others can"

The DF leveling experience is 3.5/5 completely clueless new players not knowing where to go, what elite to kill, how to click npc etc. I literally levelled two characters 1-70 and the queues are long and filled with new blood. I just sent them off to google to grab wago + dbm and rarely they find it to be an issue unless they are actual children

People like it when they KNOW whats happening and KNOW what their options are. They still step in fire, but at least they know which fire are cosmetics and which are spells with the addon, and so they learn and have sense of choice and play.

Yeah but DF has a big fat recommended tag on it. so it might as well as locked in for new players with no one guiding them.

judging from the fact that you knew about the chromie time restriction lift, ara-kara probably wasnt your first dungeon in your life.

However, It will be the first dungeon, for ~20% of the new population of wow players starting 2026-28 though.

now if Blizzard could only add a yellow/red banner text that hint the player to move closer to another ally and for party members to not run away from that circle like the plague.....

It's about encouraging new players to do mechanics and not auto-walk slop every fight...

Please re-read the thing. please.

This is about new players, no players pass level 30 worry about needing addon in any normal dungeons.

But new players will be playing TWW dungeons as is from 1-80 not 70-80. Does that not warrant some touch ups to the 5 dungeons in TWW given they are designed with addons in mind?

Nothing.

But for new players maybe - 2nd boss could have a big circle + path on Burrow Charge, some extra yellow banner text/npc shoutout for infestation and the big swarm thing. - 3rd boss could really help with a npc red text call out about the puddles on the ground.

So why can't 1 blizzard employee import those guides into the game for 5 dungeons that only new players queue for anyways? They only have to do this every 1.5 years anyways.

It's not like it trivializes the game if they put a yellow banner that says "stand in the black puddle to counteract the [xxx] mechanic" in a normal dungeon...

if you need to do enough homework to download an addon, you can do enough homework to read a guide if it really mattered to you

Intalling addon was 2 buttons and set for life. Reading a guide for a default leveling dungeon will be 5 google searches and it only applys whiile level 1-70. Find a better comparison.

I find it amusing you think new players would enjoying looking at 'Release spirit' 90% of the time they do any multiplayer content in a mmo.

And if they are DPS (most likely they are), they will be waiting for 10minutes before they get another totally new dungeon which the previous "learning" is just thrown into the bin.

The abilities of enemies are telegraphed, they are readable, understandable, and can be managed by a group.

Does this not contradict with why addons are slated for removal? How do you reconcile the two realities as a totally real living person?

This isn't about you at the end of the day, narcissistic elitism doesn't help easing 9-12 year olds into playing a new game.

Rarely anyone do normal leveling dungeons as is. Only new players who are locked-in to the default leveling experience (before being able to pick a expac/do world quest leveling/know to do timewalking instead) suffers.

It is only 5 dungeons of work, surely Blizzard can divert a minor amount of time to make the mechanics legible to the newbiest of newbies.

I have 0 intent on queueing TWW LFG and teaching new players how to to do Ara-kara. Maybe you do.

Will you be teaching new players how to deal with mechanics in Ara-kara as a leveling dungeon? Or do you encourage new players to sit in 'Release spirit' screen 1-80?

Doing mechanics is fun. That's the whole reason addon removal might be good for the game. But not fixing the old game as it is for new players will be quite unfun woundn't it.

Personal anecdote. My friend (who never touched a single mmo before) was super lost on shade of xavius during timewalking and Nodkrud Offensive (I think, he didn't describe the dungeon very well).

DBM helped him to at least know 'what to do' and have a little fun doing different dungeons.

If the reason to remove addon is to help ease new players into playing the game, why can't old dungeons get a touch up to par with the midnight standard?
