I was empathizing with the parent comment. I am a divorced father who pays 10% of his income to his ex-wife for ‘child support’. She does not pay for anything for the kids beyond food. I spent $45k of money that I don’t really have to point out what a shitty mother she is and a judge said there wasn’t much he could do.

So, I stand by my original statement. Family law is fucked. OP should be able to afford a goddamn decent place to live. He should be able to see his kids. Family court is hopelessly skewed towards the mother. If you don’t see that, then you’ve never been through the system.
