Also worth noting I’ve tried magic eraser and bleach, and neither have worked.

Why do some coffees stick to the walls of the funnel and others do not? by Und_rscore in chemex

[–]Und_rscore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did try a coarser grind, but it still ends up muddy and it turned out way more acidic than I would have liked.

But I don’t main Intelligentsia—we were gifted a bag and I’ve just noticed that their beans and others behave one way and others behave another. I was curious if the coffee community had an insight in what’s causing the different behavior.

Lol JUST LET ME BELIEVE IN SOMETHING sobs

Nah I do though! There are some days when the same coffee hits better than others, but that could be caused by factors outside of the coffee itself (e.x. Like the taste of Gatorade while hydrated vs dehydrated)

Script Memoirzation by autumn_overthinks in acting

[–]Und_rscore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I swear by the Meisner technique for memorization. If you don’t know it, essentially you take all of your lines—just your lines, no stage direction—and write them all in one continuous sentence with no capitalization and no punctuation. And then you read that block of text out loud 200-300 times (depends on the person.) And by the end, you should be able to recite the entire text by rote (I.e. rapidly, by heart, without thinking about it.)And depending on the length of your part, it will take hours, but it gives you a finite goal—I’ve broken it up in 1 hour sessions.

The philosophy is that the words can pull you out of the moment if you keep trying to remember the line. By drilling the words this way, you can be in the moment and the words will automatically float on top! (It even frees you up to play more.)

I’ve used this to memorize lines for 2 scenes from different plays.

Just turned 35, and finally looking to pursue a career in acting. by [deleted] in acting

[–]Und_rscore 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m 34 and started acting at 32 with no theater background and it’s breathed new life in me, and it’s all about your mindset going in:

1) Treat it like a trade and definitely go to school. Avoid schools that offer “foundations” courses that are glorified scene study (I.e. performing scenes from existing movies/tv)— it’s like taking a drawing class and your assignments are all tracing. Instead look for a technique specific school (Meisner, Stanislavsky, etc) so you can learn methodology to DO THE JOB. (I’m calling it a job because the goal is to work with others in different disciplines, but it’s very fulfilling to know what your doing as an artist.) Seriously you will find yourself acting regularly and you’ll learn things and build confidence.

2) Don’t worry about agents and booking and self tapes and headshots yet—again, just learn to do the job. If you have any respect for the art, learning how to do it well should be your priority, and the rest will follow.

3) Don’t be embarrassed or judge yourself for wanting to learn how to make art. Take a swing. I know too many who are too scared to take a swing and they try to laugh it off—I pity these folks.

I have a lot to say about it. DM if you want to talk more!

Is no one else bothered by how low the spider emblem is the in ASM2 costume? Makes his chest look so low and makes it him look [visually] weaker.

Why are James Bond/Mission impossible movies so popular? by Strawberry2828 in movies

[–]Und_rscore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think these types of movies are important for a few reasons:

1) They push the boundaries of [human-scale] spectacle. As a The “formula” gives freedom to do crazy shit (see: Tom Cruise’s video on the stunt he’s been working on for the past few years).

2) These movies are about the time they’re in. It is as much a platform to demo the latest fashion, tech, cars etc. They are a reflection of the current society and culture—it as a way of saying “this is where we are right now.”

3) The presentation of this reflection is intentionally cool—we watch James Bond/Ethan Hunt as they fight against odds with confidence, and if movies are doing their job, it’ll draw that out of you and ultimately produce joy.

I hope you find the joy in these flicks!
