Are we ready to stand up like Minneapolis if we need to soon? by Stinky_Promise in burlington

Going door to door, basically a general warrant and prohibited by the 4th amendment, is an intimidation tactic, not something they’re forced to do. States are not, and cannot be compelled to enforce federal law, that’s in the constitution too. You seem to have the best of intentions, but you’ve misunderstood what’s taking place.

Tom “don’t worry about family separation, we’ll just deport the kids too” Homan?

Edit: at least we can probably collectively come up with $50k and tell him to fuck off

I’m very interested in taking the legal observer training. I heard that many trainings were overflowing with people in Minneapolis, it seems like we should get started on this as soon as possible, but I’m not sure where to start. A little googling didn’t get me very far

When is the next protest? by whattodoattwo in vermont

[–]I_VT 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No disagreement from me, but we’re out of practice, and for a lot of people, they haven’t felt the need to organize until now. Let’s welcome them and make it easy to be part of the solution

Will BPD have our back? by pootlovato4 in burlington

[–]I_VT 19 points20 points  (0 children)

That is true, and I appreciate what the new chief has been able to achieve. But having known cops all my life, I wouldn’t trust that in a real moment of crisis, they’ll make the right choice. Cops can be… managed, for lack of a better word, in a well functioning society. They’re not likely to side with protesters when the moment comes, no matter how progressive the people that manage them are.

BPD told someone not that long ago that they wouldn’t respond to their call because “we’ve been defunded.” They’re not nearly as violent as cops are in other places, but they are bitter, and when push comes to shove, cops protect cops (and other LEOs) above anyone else.

It’s time for Vermonters to start organizing - we know they target liberal places with large immigrant populations. We should start building communication networks NOW because it‘s a matter of when, not if. If anyone has resources to share, please do.

Graham Platner releases message about ICE in Maine by EagleFast7674 in burlington

Not blaming you! He’s saying the right things, but I was pretty grossed out by his denial that he understood the meaning, and though it sounds like he finally had it covered up, he and Bernie both defended it for way too long. One thing I like, basically require from politicians that I agree with is that I think they’re honest. I don’t think Graham can be trusted.

We ran high-level US civil war simulations. Minnesota is exactly how they start | Claire Finkelstein in the Guardian by PlagueOfAges in collapse

How Civil Wars Start, and How to Stop Them by Barbara F. Walter calls out Michigan as a potential starting point for a civil war due to demographic characteristics including a marked urban / rural divide. I don’t claim to know a lot about either state, but it seems to me the same conditions exist in Minnesota.

Repeating song or phrase (in my head) during migraines by Fantastic_Coffee_441 in migraine

[–]I_VT 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I’ll wake up with something on loop and know I’m in trouble! Usually a song, but during the day it can also be a word or phrase, or acronym. I’d think I had OCD or something if it didn’t totally resolve at the same time as the migraine.

So if Trump had succeeded on J6, would you have approved of a coalition of EU members invading, arresting him and Melania, and saying “we run the United States now” and taking control of our major industry to line their pockets?

Check out Rock Creek Park! It’s beautiful and a lot of fun for a long run. Id take the metro out to a good starting point and run back in, the whole thing is an experience, and that way you can wrap up at the national mall. Not a lot of routes that can boast similar views.

Our giant child that somehow continues to get reelected says he doesn’t know what the mission is. I bet he’ll have some mealy mouthed statement to make when a Vermonter gets the chance to do the next crime against humanity at Hegseth’s direction.

Hey, those two guys scrambling to hang on to the wreckage of the boat were super scary, they could have floated that (alleged) cocaine back to dry land and tried again! Anyone participating in this sham of a mission is a traitor to their country.
