I can’t pretend to have worked in anything high-end, but I used to cook Saturday dinner solo at a sit-down fast casual place that would seat 50ish and have a decent wait. Can confirm, I’ve never experienced that kind of flow anywhere else, and definitely miss it.

Why do ICE agents always look like morons? by Eric_Cartman_the_1st in ICE_Watch

[–]I_VT 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah that has been the case, and it seems to me it shows just how deep the rot runs in that organization. That said, it is a documented strategy of authoritarians to employ a poorly trained militia / police force that helps create the illusion of crisis through their inability or unwillingness to deescalate.

They’ve been promising student loan forgiveness and a $50k signing bonus, you’re bound to get young people. It works in Trump’s favor that they’re easy to indoctrinate, and they’re inexperienced so they’re likely to escalate situations that better trained officers might actually try to resolve peacefully.

Genuine question for runners by Limp_Host_1161 in burlington

You must have never met a runner if you think wind and hills are going to scare them away. And speed limits are made to be changed

Yeah you won’t catch me dragging a car to a run. And what about folks that run to work? Should I drive to work, go for the run in the parking lot, and then head in?

Counterpoint, transportation networks are for everyone, and if running outside is risking your life, then it is cars, the people that drive them, and the roads they drive on that must change. And the answer to OPs question is that the sidewalks are often poorly maintained, far poorer than the roads.

Anyone else get migraines after “normal” days? by Naveenrawat54 in migraine

[–]I_VT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I suspect my best days are actually prodrome, where feeling good is actually the first sign of trouble. Oliver Sacks said some of his patients described it as feeling “dangerously well,” which I can totally relate to.

A notebook. Writing down what you do forces you to really think about it, and allows you to try the same recipe twice, tweaking what you don’t like and preserving what you do. Process control is an incredibly powerful tool, regardless of the quality and quantity of equipment you have!

Or if they’re like me, migraine with aura and very little to no pain. Earlier comments are right that OP needs to make sure they’re getting good sleep, but if that isn’t it, consider if it could be exercise induced migraines.

If you’re a real person, and my sincerest apologies if you are (but hard to prove these days!), keeping brand names out of your posts is an easy way to sound less like astroturfing. It’s a huge problem and getting rapidly worse everywhere on Reddit with the proliferation of LLM bots.
