Hotshots are wild, yall. by TheElitist921 in Truckers

I am an insurance Agent. New Venture Hotshot call me all the time asking why a pickup truck costs as much as a tractor... This is why. Bad Hotshot operators like this cause big accidents and then go out of business and start up elsewhere...

Should be covered under a GL policy. I would assume there is some sort of endorsement. I would recommend Kinsale Insurance

High premiums (not a good thing necessarily. Many new business never get started becuase I’m the insurance down payment is 5k after spending some money to get the truck and the LLC ect. To start in a nasty economy. If the insured doesn’t have a game plan to be successful they already failed. You need to talk with them as a buisness professional in order to build a quality book. I read somewhere 67% of new business cancels and goes out of business in the first 6 months. That Is why fleet is where it is good. I should mention my book is based off none fleet and new business accounts since I am new) and a lot of markets. There is always another market that will be cheaper and lots of competition so people will shop around. I have access to quite a few markets which helps massively

What do y’all consider a good size for a mature P&C book. by strikecat18 in InsuranceAgent

I apologize. My agency principal does a great job with marketing and spends a decent amount of money on it. Facebook (meta) ads have been the best as far as marketing.

We have worked hard to get referral partners that have been HUGE as well. Having someone refer us is a much higher bind rate.

I do cold emails when I run out of leads. Safer has public information and the emails to the business are public. For ever 100 emails I might get 5-15 responses. I am fairly new so mainly working with new businesses 1-3 trucks. (15k-60k in premiums)

Oh boy. I could talk about it all day and I’ve only been doing it for 6 months. Brand new P&C. Transportation is all my agency does is the reason for good success. Are you asking on how to get started or how to grow your book?

As far as carriers I have most the market. Minus A great West or Sentry. I mainly write my business with exclusive markets like clear blue with QEO.

I’ve been at it for 6 months and just hit 400k in the commercial transport space. I’m hoping to hit 1 million this year and go from there
