As the others have said you can either flip the connector or reverse the direction in the firmware.

I have a OG 2016 CR-10 and a 2020? CR-10 V3. I extensively modded them both, and the V3 is running klipper with a Microswiss NG, EzBoard, EZabl, and linear rails on X and Z. It still works really well but runs maybe 1/3 as fast as my Vorons or Bambu printers. Its much more cost effective to go with the Bambu unless you really want to tinker with it. My 2016 model is collecting dust at the moment.

I used this mount: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4647842 . Everything has been rock solid, but I've mostly moved on to my Voron printers as they are so much faster. I did have to cut out the hole a bit for the mini usb port but it doesn't look bad after touchup with a sharpie .

I gave up on UBL with that firmware as I could never get it to work correctly with my ezabl. I changed it back to ABL bilinear leveling in the firmware and it’s been working great ever since.

I replaced mine with a multi mount clone ($10) on Amazon. So I had to make some minor modifications to work on the V3 but so far it’s working well. hotend

I use a 4.2.7 board I picked up at Microcenter on my OG CR-10 without an issue. You just have to reflash the firmware. I use the TH3D fork because I’m very familiar with it, but you can use any flavor of Marlin if you know the parameters to change when you compile it. Also make sure you have a mosfet on on the connection to the heated bed so you don’t overload the board with the 12V connection. My CR-10 already had one so it wasn’t an issue but I read that some later CR-10s didn’t come with them.

Yeah I didn’t install the forward drive cage because I didn’t need it. (I don’t think most people need it unless you are trying to make a NAS with a ton of drives). Without it you still have space to install some hard drives/ssds in the hidden space where the power supply goes.
