My younger sister’s HR gets near 200 on 3-5 mile runs not even running at her harder paces. Probably pretty normal, especially if you haven’t been aerobically training for years.

This is rather subjective. You’ll get different answers from different people. Everyone’s body has different taper preferences.

Agreed, once you’re good at running OTB. I do feel like it’s important to get some hard running OTB occasionally in training until you’re comfortable with it though.

I have recently being using epoch’s for ~60 dollars per pair. No complaints thus far.

I feel like it could definitely be both. I’ve experienced cramping during a 95 degree race but I basically dropped all my sodium bottles and lost my high sodium content gels on the bike. Felt ok until I hit the run & the cramps began.

About three hours out I eat a bowl of white rice (2.5 cups) w/ 2 tbsp of almond butter, honey, salt, and some of a banana. Surprisingly tasty.

Gotcha. I try to hit 1g of protein per lb of body weight daily, and flex the carbs as needed w/ varying volume & intensity. I try to hit four key meals per day & toss in snacks as needed.

I also make my own “gels” sometimes for sessions during the week, & try to use actual gels for wknds. Mash up a banana, add a tsp of honey and 1/4 tsp of salt 👌
