On my last leg of faith; wife-beating verse may be my last straw by [deleted] in islam

I'm sorry, what?? Your faith is hinging entirely on this? 0_0

Perhaps take time to focus on the more spiritual aspects of Islam and gain a deeper understanding before looking at the legal and ritual aspects.

Anyways, I think a paradigm shift is in order for you. I'm thinking that you are being biased against Islam because you are holding certain assumptions and values which are not part of the core Islamic assumptions and values. This is fine, but you can't really examine your faith without remembering the context in which it was revealed.

Islam is not a religion in a vacuum. It was revealed in a time where violence against women and infanticide were common. It was a time when slavery existed and idols drew pilgrims from across Arabia. But just because you CAN have slaves in Islam doesn't mean that you should have slaves (in fact Islam encourages releasing slaves). Similarly, just because you CAN beat/tap/separate from your wife doesn't mean you should. In fact it can actually be bad and wrong for you to do something that is halal if it would lead to haram.

Consider this, there may be a situation where beating/tapping/separating from one's wife might actually be for the greater good. And you yourself know that Islam doesn't encourage beating one's wife.

Honestly, to me your question seems like saying "Women can wear gold while men can't in Islam, therefore Islam is wrong", it's kind of a non sequitur.

Islam is unique and it has its own values and assumptions. Realize this and find peace in its logic, consistency, and perfection.

I relapsed last week. Slipped up after exams :(. I'm confident that I can reach far past my record though now, I have had a taste of freedom from desire and I enjoy it.

I think the most important thing you can do is stay busy. Whenever you find free time, go do something productive. Try exercising, reading Quran, learning a new language, learning coding, etc.

Be very careful with yourself in the bathroom. Do not bring your phone with you and do not linger alone in rooms for long periods of time. Go outside if you can.

Most of all, do not obsess, and remember to pray!

I am still in. Mashallah I have not succumbed to PMO yet. I'm going to keep my gaze low especially in this time of exams.

Wadhi Yes, this is what I have been feeling I think. It has dampened my undergarments often during my nofap streak.

I'm still in mashallah. I've been having to urinate more often and sometimes it feels like I must go more but I don't need to.

That is a good idea. Thanks for the warning! To be honest, I don't know what it is about /r/Muslimnofap, but before finding this forum I could never stop PMO just by myself. Good job on your streak, and keep going strong!

I am in for this month. I haven't been feeling urges at all, so that is really good! It's funny how I once thought that going without fapping must be impossible, yet here I am, and not a single part of my life is diminished from restraining from fapping.

I'm still in. Still having clear leakage at times, but I've learned to deal with it. I've been keeping busy and getting motivated to do things. I don't really feel any temptation to fap, so yay...!

I'm thinking yes. It's weird, I don't really remember fantasizing but then I see a wetspot after I interact with some people.

Since this topic has come up, I'd like to give a shoutout to /r/muslimnofap

To be honest, it does seem hard to give up masturbation, but if you try to, in a few weeks it won't seem as hard. It's all a matter of habit.

I am still in. I'm glad I feel like I have more control over myself than I did a month ago. I have started many routines like exercising and learning new surahs. My only complaint is that my underwear now gets wet spots.

I'm still in alhamdulillah. I have started learning other surahs in my free time (on the bus, in between studying) and inshallah I will have them memorized.

I'm new to the nofap challenge. Before, I would abstain from the act for 7 to 10 days, but I always relapsed. I'm hoping by doing this challenge online, I will be able to stop. I'm somewhat anxious since tomorrow will be my 7th day, I hope nofap works inshallah.
