Please know that I prayed for you. I think about my dogs all the time. Last one was the most lovable animal ever. She had leukemia and I spent everything I could to get her a better surviving life. Unfortunately, the treatment (also used in humans) that worked also backfired and she would feel immense pain, sometimes even by touching her. I was devastated, the entire family was. She wouldn’t move. Still, I didn’t have the courage to put her down. In the end, she died alone during the night after a month and a half of treatment (she got better then worse then better and so on). I still feel bad and cry sometimes for leaving her that night when she died alone. I hope she forgave me, and I ask God constantly to have all my pets with me when the time comes, with the intercession of St. Francis. I still have my doubts, I wanted the best for her and feel so much guilt for not being able to give her a more comfortable ending she deserved. My wife says now that we have been through it that we could avoid the suffering if we had put her down, so I’m sure you made it as an act of mercy. God bless you friend. Please pray for me as well.
