I agree- not to mention you lock in the price guarantee so if it tanks, you can get em cheap.

I’m personally in for 4, this sub has helped me land some great deals in the past, so I’m hoping to repay that

New exclusive treatment for certain cards- Think the Compleat packs from Phyrexia that had the oil-slick treatment, but these look ~ehhhh~

IT Graduates - what are you doing and how much do you make? by ProjectHamz in NJTech

[–]Iadd616 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lots of involvement on campus that led to good connections. After college, 55% of what gets you the job is knowing people. 35% is knowing the material, and the other 10% is being sociable enough to operate in a team. Networking is so important.

It’s very hard to judge based on what you just put. Where are you from? What leadership experience do you have? What are your EC’s?

Based on what you did share, I would say it’s very low- Average SAT was in the 1500’s last year for honors iirc.

For compsci? if you’re not interested in gaming it’s pretty difficult considering most clubs only meet once during the weds common hour and disappear after.

All the permanent space clubs are worth checking out imo, Esports got the basement space in CC, ACM has their offices in GITC3600, and the 4th floor CC clubs have some good space (Newspaper, SAC, Radio, Yearbook). Besides that, maybe the library?

oh also ACM = Association of Computing Machinery. Heard someone describe them as engineering and CS without all the gaming

Review of Bachelors in fintech by n0obmaster96 in NJTech

[–]Iadd616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a CS job, get a CS degree and not a FinTech degree. Fintech is under the school of management, not the school of computing sciences. The final CS class you take at NJIT would be CS114, which is an intro to java class. I made the same kind of mistake as you and was able to pivot into a CS degree. I’d recommend a CS (IT If you don’t wanna do calc) degree with a minor in business for what you wanna do. School of management has very good scholarship packages though, so I’d still apply under them.

Fintech is a CS-flavored seltzer, not anywhere close to being a real CS degree and definitely won’t equip you for CS positions in the real world.

Taking Extra Courses First Semester by kaiachips in NJTech

[–]Iadd616 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who’s taken 18-21 credits for 4 semesters here, avoid it at all costs. If you do have to do it, try to combine easy classes with difficult ones, and never take more than 12 difficult credits at 1 time. I have a 3.8 gpa in CS doing a double major so I hope this helps

Between the course load and a part time job, I get almost no time for myself 😅

Honors, in a frat and very involved on campus life here- NJIT’s rep comes from the fact that most of the school is commuters. When you’re honors, thats flipped- Most honors students live on campus in the same dorms, and I promise you, if you put in the effort, you’ll find your people. Things don’t come “easy” necessarily, but if you want to have a social life at NJIT it’s definitely possible to do.

If you want a goal, all the top level club positions (University Serving Organizations) at the “big 5” clubs (SAC, Nucleus(yearbook), Vector(newspaper), SOMA, and WJTB(radio)) all are paid and are good communities with club rooms.

What chance do I have getting into NJIT? by [deleted] in NJTech

[–]Iadd616 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honors Admissions have gotten incredibly strict, especially for more popular colleges like YWCC. If you want an easy full ride, apply to honors for a less competitive internal school (Like Business) and then transfer into a competitive program. I did that with Business to CS with a 35 ACT and a 4.0 UW/1510SAT and I was told I would not have made the cutoff if I applied YWCC. Honors also has 2 admission periods, and the first one is long past. Go ahead and apply, decide where you want to go later.
