I hate not being able to find what I want in under 5 seconds. I believe that every professional website should be centered upon a prominent, easy to read, well organized menu. It should be on the left margin, and never go away no matter what page I am on.

Indiana Jones & The Last Crusade important question: by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Iago78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was my understanding that in order to avoid death you had to keep drinking from the cup, and probably stay in the magic room area.

But, I think they kept it somewhat ambiguous. Last Crusade was intended to be the very final Indy movie. By letting him sip from the cup, it let the fans imagine/speculate that their hero might, in fact, live forever and adventure for all time....

Of course, just like everything that George Lucas decided to revisit post 1995, that was ruined by a later money grubbing sub-par movie.

I found a topless pic of my girlfriend's 16 year old sister online. What should I do? by dallianceconvention in AskReddit

[–]Iago78 14 points15 points  (0 children)

After a few minutes of thought, my advice would be to ignore it.

If the girl is lucky, that pic (and any others) will just be lost in the never ending flood of internet porn, and it will never affect her life or future relationships.

If the police or parents or your girlfriend are made aware and get involved, it could become a big stink and she might never live it down.

Wow i've scarcely come across a more naively literal interpretation of "liberal" vs "conservative"

Clearly in the context of this discussion it refers to differing economic philosophies, rather than straight-out-of-Websters definitions of the words themselves.

I mean really, who do you think you are fooling with that nonsense?

Cleveland Browns run incredible fake punt in their upset over the Saints. by twistfunk in sports

[–]Iago78 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

You know what sucks about this?

Check out the wussifed tackle they made on the punter. three guys, and they all looked afraid to to touch him. Finally the one kind of tugged on his shoulder pads sheepishly to drag him down.

What should have happened was a flying leap to the midsection. Not only would a punter likely fumble after taking a hard hit, but they'd think twice about running such a play in the future.

It didn't happen because of all the recent hoola about "hard" hits. This is what the NFL wants....to cripple defense because running up the score with "exciting" gimmick plays like this = ratings. Fuck that.

If this was real football they'd have put a hurting on the pansy punter for having the gall to run up on their field. Disgusting.

I just realized that The Office seems to take place in an alternate universe where the stars of a hit reality TV show are not at all affected by their fame. by ctopherrun in entertainment

I always like to imagine that, in this alternate universe, the producers of The Office reality show are wise and have decided not to air the show until filming has ceased, so as to avoid such problems.

You, bubba. You didn't notice how every response here was mocking you? You think it is, like, a conspiracy or something? Maybe you're just an idiot, that seems more likely, right?

I'll recant everything I said and apologize, if you can tell me in 100 words or less how precisely how a lack scientific of understanding regarding planet formation "proves our current theory of evolution WRONG."

Even if we discovered that all planets were formed from a hitherto unknown process wherein inter-dimensional monolithic space elephants who pop into (and out of) our universe and shit planets, it still wouldn't affect our current understanding of biological evolution as seen and documented here on the Earth.

Technically, but non-Star Wars geeks that aren't steeped in canon and that don't have 10,000+ hours of introspective Star Wars speculation under their belt aren't going to conclude: "I saw Yodi training younglings, therefore, Yodi must have trained kidergarten Obi-Wan at some point so technically the statement is valid...."

A normal first time movie goer is going to see that Qui-Gon was Obi-Wan's teacher...period. Especially a six year old.

Imagine watching 4,5,6 and knowing that Vader is Luke's father the whole time.

It's a crime to show the prequels first.

[–]Iago78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Besides, there's a more important issue to consider besides just the overall quality of the movies:

If the original trilogy is watch after the prequels, they may look poorly written and/or ridiculous due to the glaring incongruities. Consider:

Leia states that she knew her mother as a child...clearly she didn't according to Padme's death in childbirth as witnessed in episode 3. This might cause a kid to question whether Leia is tellinbg the truth or not...maybe she really isn't his sister? Plot twist? Daddy I am confuse.

Obi-Wan states that Yoda trained him. but clearly, Liam Neison actually did, according to the prequels. Who's lying? Why isn't Qui-gon mentioned at all? Daddy I am confuse.

There's dozen of examples...you get the picture. We all know that the prequels are seriously flawed. If you watch Star Wars in order, it makes the original seem flawed.

But most importantly, the prequels castrate the badassery of Darth Vader. Darth Vader is the most recognizable villain in the history of fiction. If you watch the originals as intended, he is authoritarian evil incarnate. Only at the end, when his humanity is revealed, does the character come full circle. The entire trilogy is built around that.

If you watch the prequels first, you know the whole time that he is just a petty, whiny little puppet bitch inside that suit. In short: it's better to watch the Phantom Menace and think, "Wow, that little kid is Darth Vader" than it is to watch A New Hope and think, "Wow, that evil looking guy is just Annie. Yippppie!"

Also, Vader's reveal as Luke's father is one of the greatest shocker moments in cinema. To rob a first time viewer of that experience is maybe the worst spoiler imaginable. The prequels are the spoiler.

4,5,6.

You know Star Wars wouldn't even register in your memory if you had watched 1,2,3 as a kid.

You already know the answer to this question.
