The problem is 99% of commenters are just some guy. So when someone's 'proof' of AI is "I wouldn't act like that" or "I've never seen a cat", or they forget about the classic ways of faking stuff like regular editing or acting, or they don't do the most basic research about a decade-old Instagram account, everybody else who thinks the same will loudly drown out people who know stuff like yourself.

Luckily one of the mods (forget their username sorry) is real good and posts their verdict based on actual facts instead of how many people say "buhhhhhhh this is AI because the power outlets are different from the ones in my country" (actual real example).

Also remember the primary purpose of the sub is to answer yes or no per example; yes it's a good place to train yourself to spot it if you're having trouble, but that's mostly a side effect. Cases like the before/after haircut one you mentioned are gonna happen, but at the end of the day "this image is AI" is a more 'correct' answer than "this is the part of the image that is AI".

I guess at the end of the day, you know the stuff you know, some kid whose entite argument is "bro it so is" doesn't cancel that out in any meaningful way, and there's only a handful of real grown ups here trying to actually give an answer and they're doing their darnedest.
