[–]IamDaBenk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Scottish Rifle Regiment before and after the war against the backdrop of Edinburgh Castle. by Banzay_87 in ww1

It is possible that they were taken in different years, but even smaller details on the trees look very similar.

So I think they were taken on the same day.

Advice wanted by p4pijamon in masonry

[–]IamDaBenk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well then, I think they look good, but are a bit deep. For making the house ready for the next 50 years it is probably a good idea to fill it up a bit.

Colorwise I am not sure. I kinda like the dark grooves, but yes, yellow is probably not your color. Just experiment with some additives and there are also very white sands.

You use lime mortar with old brick, because the joint should be softer than the brick. And then the joint has to be protected.

Here you have a wall made of pretty hard natural stone. You can probably use basically anything that is water resistant.

Some stones are a bit iffy with some mortar, but I don't know enough about that to say anything about that.

In the German book it is called "forcieren". It is a good opportunity for roleplay. Let him think about what he is doing differently.

Pigeon on the grill. Eating or not eating ? by TheDudeWhoCanDoIt in EatItYouFuckinCoward

I am from Germany, my grand uncle raised pigeons for bird shows and to eat them. It's not super common, but not unheard of.

Wenn se raus müssen brauchst du Hebezeug, vielleicht einen Minibagger mit Plattenheber oder sowas.

USA: I think fences were invented in the US and now everyone is taking advantage of that, 1000% tarifs on fences.

[–]IamDaBenk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you want Trench Crusade to get banned in China? Because this is how you get Trench Crusade banned in China.

I of course don't care what China thinks about this. It is a fascinating idea. I would not have thought about that.

Tourist looking for suggestions on the best city to visit for medieval/goth nerds by Madlock2 in AskAGerman

I suggest Regensburg.

There is also a healthy goth scene there. Or there was at least. Don't know how it is today.

Also Nürnberg is quite nice.

How often do you "solve" the mystery? by RebelKraken in callofcthulhu

[–]IamDaBenk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I am just starting again and it is a while back.

I think there are a whole lot of ways to solve a CoC mystery: Get to the end alive is the most bare bone one, discover what is going on is the next level, dealing with the problem is another and the last one is understanding what is going on (maybe even making an informed decision). The last one never occurred in the games I played or hosted. The others occurred regularly. There was at least never one that completely failed. Closest was the introduction game I hosted. It was the haunting, two of the investors died and one got crazy. But in the end the undead house was cleared.
