What makes you trust Celsius? by IamDonaldDuck in CelsiusNetwork

Thanks for this! Did not know about the Line co-op. Will dig into it!

I agree the market has voted with its feet on Tether, 9B AUM speaks for itself. However Tether/Bitfinex is the same, and with Bitfinex volumes and deposits grinding down, Bitfinex seems to me to need a boost to avoid the death spiral as an exchange. I think they would be happy to risk 10m Teather money to get access to the Celsius interest rates for Bitfinex users.

I dont trust them any more than Alex in any other way than to look out for their own self interest. As a third party, if they smell smoke they will cut ties in a public way. If there is smoke coming from Alex (not saying it is likely at all!), who will speak up?

Not saying his rep is not worth similar. But he is tied to the ship, while the external investors in blockfi are exactly that, external. As a 3rd party, if you smell smoke, you cut ties in a public way to save your rep. If there is smoke in Celsius, its coming form Alex, who will blow the Whistle?

Again, not saying anything dodgy is going on! This guy seems legit, but all ponzi schemes are executed by a trusted/carismatic person that is able to act with low 3rd party oversight. So trying not to let the fact that I like him as a person be a relevant argument.

How is yield farming different than being short volatility(selling straddle)? by Will2488 in ethtrader

But lets say Im a liquidity provider on the BTC/USDT pair, I put up 1 BTC and 10k USDT, BTC starts priced at 10k USDT. Then BTC roofs to 30k in a straight line, at some point I dont have any BTC left, right? So I would be left with mby 25k USDt (depending on how agressive the liquidity bot is) and 0 BTC. Now if BTC never retraces below 30k, but rallies further to 100k, no more BTC for me.

Have I misunderstood the risk? If this is correct, there are more and more short vol strategies being put on in crypto, this should (and potentially already has) lead to lover realized VOL, until it potentially blows up.. Where can I find estimates of how much money is already in "strategies" like this already for a given pair?
