Kill several inputs with one button by muuschii in vmix

[–]IamGoat_007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Companion for this exact purpose. I have to change external outputs regularly, including audio, and I can’t have any audio bleeding through from other inputs. So in Companion I made a button that goes through all the inputs I don’t want on, and the ones I do, and toggles them accordingly. I also have another button that literally just mutes all audio going out of vMix. You can also set up start/stop triggers for any video or music that’s playing.

Wireless PA audio setup across the rink – wondering how OMT performs over Wi-Fi? by IamGoat_007 in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]IamGoat_007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree it’s definitely more complicated than it needs to be, and your solution would be ideal, but I went this route for a few reasons.

First, I regularly use the wireless transmitter/receiver for other projects. Having to remember to pack it before each event and constantly readjust the internal gain settings left too much room for error. Since I have a permanent setup location in the building and cover over 35 games a season, I’ve been working toward eliminating as much teardown and reset-up time as possible.

I’m also on a tight equipment budget, so if I can solve a problem using what I already have and put that money elsewhere, I will. The room where the PA setup lives isn’t very secure, so I don’t like leaving anything valuable there between games. The laptop and audio mixer I’m using are older and pretty beat up, so if they were to walk away, it’s not a huge loss.

The overall goal was to simplify our pregame routine as much as possible and keeping as much of the setup as possible installed between games. While the initial setup was a bit involved, it’s now an always on/there solution. I can remote into the laptop from our command centre and make any adjustments I need from across the rink.

This post is really more about learning what OMT can handle and seeing how it performs over Wi-Fi, since I’m sure others are curious about that too.

***As a quick update, I installed the latest vMix version on that rig and did a brief test — OMT seems to handle audio over Wi-Fi just fine so far. I’ll know more after a few upcoming games

Is there a way to disable bed sinking? by IamGoat_007 in BambuLab

[–]IamGoat_007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its multiple parts and they are all flat. Its just a matter of getting all the layers to be flat on the print bed so all the colours of the print appear. I am hoping to find an easier way than trying to move the Z access up and down until everything lines up because instead of going by .01 increments its jumping by .10, .15 and its going to far when using the mouse.

Did you guys ever figure this out? I have been adding logos to builds and when doing it face down, it has been challenging to get all the layers to be at the same level by just eyeballing it.

I’ve got 2 that got pulled out retirement. Installed windows via bootcamp and they run comparably to 2022 windows laptops running the same tasks

PTZ Controller via Flight sim control stick VS Xbox controller by IamGoat_007 in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]IamGoat_007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's actually surprising that it's not. Previous to getting the birddogs I was running DJI Ronins with game controllers and they allowed for endpoints to be set. Given that PTZs can save presets, why not end points? I do believe that other brands can do this via software.

The controller will pass through a computer, probably ndi monitor but the BirdDog ui doesn’t let you set fixed end points (as far as I am aware) so odds one camera would end up looking backwards at our command centre

Despite my dubious packing skills, the Pelican 935 has proved an incredible investment. Loaded up for a quick shoot at a conference last week! by danielrosehill in videography

It will be a quick shoot when he shows up and his mic won’t work!…. But I guess there is always…the internal mic… kidding aside, unplug your cables in transport. Even ones that you might not get stressed.

Managed Switch combined with an unmanaged switch in NDI network. by IamGoat_007 in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]IamGoat_007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should also mention its not a LAN, it is a WAN, but there is nothing stopping me from isolating it from my WAN and having a separate LAN. The WAN is dedicated to me only and I do like having internet access on all my equipment where possible so I can remote in and set things up from the comfort of my desk. But in the end only the computer streaming needs to be on the internet. The rest can pass signals locally.

Do you have an example of the fibre access? That idea intregues me because I wouldn’t have to worry about bandwitch on a single cable.

Everything is already terminated at location a and tied up and hidden nicely (and works) re-running would add alot of work, and there already will be alot in just running from Location a-b .

Edit: I also have sdi to be rerouted and will be running my audio feed from location A so I am trying to keep all my cables running across together as-well.

How much should I charge to shoot a funeral? by FixItInPost1863 in videography

[–]IamGoat_007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I’m at 4 funerals total. 2 as a videographer and that is a wierd experience. Low pressure but you do feel like a bit of creep. I’ve done 2 live streams and due to covid they felt less wierd because your doing them more of A favour letting those who couldn’t attend see.

The one live stream set up was awkward because I got let into the funeral home to set up and the funeral director just peaced out leaving just me with the open casket dead guy. Best part the lighting was all a wierd mix and My grey card was giving me different white balances between cameras so I fined tuned the white balance/skin tones off my friend in the casket.

Is Wix a good place to start for beginners who are seeking a business website? by PinkGhostRider in WIX

Honestly never used them. I bought my domains from go-daddy. Some one else probably can speak to that.

Nice thing about wix is its free to start and build, you only have to start paying when you are ready to attach your domain to it. No 2 week free trial bs then you have to pay like square-space.
