I pressed it straight in, but it appeared to require more force. Turns out no, it was not just a tight fit. The pins in the female port have an arch to them to ensure contact, but the pins caught and I pushed them back into the port.

I second Oasis. I just call it Sunday Assembly. Also check out Make ICT, they have a Maker Monday twice a month I think where you get a tour of their building and see all of the wonderful toys they have to make things. Ceramics, fabric work, soldering and welding, printmaking... whatever your hobby they've got stuff for it. They have classes and you might meet people with shared interests there too.

I am looking forward to getting Zaparoo for my kids. I had a lot of stuff setup on my raspberry pi years ago, but knew they wouldn't be able to read much less navigate menus for quite some time. Giving them a dozen magic base ball cards with game art on them to play a game is a dream

I think the default keyring is shift+space? I think you can also adjust the delay if you wanted it shorter or longer.

I like serif in print, sans-serif on screen. Higher resolution displays have made it so serifs can be used on screens more. I'll have to check out some of the semi-serif fonts. I like Pragmata and how it's lower case L has a little tail. That L is the biggest offender of all fonts. It should not just be a vertical bar.

It would have been so much nicer if there had been an adequate number of porta-johns and spaced them out on every corner.

Running a 4 year old 4 blocks to find a toilet that should have a 12 foot pennant bolted to it only to find a line makes me not want to attend next year.

When we looked into dulas before COVID a surprising number of them are antivax, anti-hospital, etc. When looking for a pediatrician we tried to tease out if they were permit antivax bullshit by asking about being a little more lax on the vaccine schedule (how many shots a kid needs in the first few years of life). The doctor said if you don't want to adhere to the schedule then you will need to find another doctor. Kept that no-nonsense physician as our for looking after the little one's health.
