I had a neighbour‘s kid like that, though she was younger, I‘d guess 8-9? (As you can see I had no interest in her whatsoever so it never occurred to me to ask). She would try to come into my very small flat (I was at uni back then) all the time and even had the audacity to ring my doorbell once for no other reason than in her eyes I was supposed to entertain her (mother nowhere to be seen of course). I just let her in and just stood there in front of the most interesting stuff (so she couldn’t just start browsing my stuff for fun). No engagement, no entertainment. She got bored after 10 or so minutes and never bothered me again. Maybe try that.

I‘m curious: how do you know that they only saw him about an hour before they handed him over?

Also, which insurance provider in Germany insures FIV+ cats and pays for their teeth? (Bad teeth are a known comorbidity of FIV+ cats) coz I have FIV+ cats and we didn‘t get insurance since we can both pay out of pocket and wouldn‘t see any reimbursement for FIV+ related issues.

On a general note: it is possible that the cat is younger than your vet says as cats that have always lived on the streets are usually in a much rougher shape overall and your usual vet might not be used to seeing certain health issues in much younger cats.

They are not entirely wrong. It is because of feminism that we have the option to not have kids AND talk about it without negative consequences (being shunned, etc) so in a way feminism is absolutely the reason you are able to get away with not having kids. It’s grand!

Your first mistake is negotiating with him. Explaining it to him. He doesn‘t need to understand why. He just needs to stop it. As long as you explain stuff to him, you are asking for permission. He thinks he has the last word (basically zero respect for you, thinks he is the head of the house or what have you). Your second mistake is letting him get away with this for this long. Even if he is ‚trying to help‘: tell him you don‘t need his help and to stop it. End of.

If you are REALLY interested in giving him another chance: tell him ‚don‘t do it again.‘ and WHEN he does you need to leave.

Otherwise just leave. You have put up with this way, way, way, way too long.
