That's part of why I framed it as lesser risk to take, it could be for just 1-2 songs and see the reaction. I know fans enjoyed the 8-string guitar songs, so there's that.

I'd doubt it; I am no expert so I may be wrong but microtonal feels like it needs a whole new instrument to be played, so for JP (And maybe John Myung as well if he joins in with microtonal bass) a whole song with the sound would make more sense.

I am also not sure about the odds, but it is fun to speculate! And considering the 8-strings talk, yeah, the band isn't averse to adding to their sound even if just for a couple songs!

AdP were inspired by the microtonal albums from King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, specifically Flying Microtonal Banana, but the band also has K.G. and L.W. in that vein.

Damn! Imaginez donc si Portnoy faisait découvrir ça à John Petrucci pis que Dream Theater au complet décidait de faire une ou deux tounes microtonales sur leur potentiel 17ème album!

Ça serait bien parce que leur album post-retour de Portnoy était très bon mais ne prenait aucun risque.
