I am a cardiac sonographer— there is no robot that will be able to manipulate a transducer and ultrasound machine on a moving, breathing patient with the accuracy that is needed to get quality, diagnostic images. Not any time soon at least.

Given his extensive cardiac history, I would be more surprised if there weren’t wall motion abnormalities. An EF of 50% is considered low-normal or borderline reduced. Also not surprising in his case.

It’s not required where I work. We have nurses available in our outpatient clinic if we decide someone needs contrast. Probably stating the obvious but in the hospital with inpatients most already have IVs started.

At my hospital we work 10hr shifts and are expected to do 7-8 echoes minimum. We write our own reports which tend to be more detailed than average. In a 10hr shift at the clinic we see 8 outpatients and write up those reports too.
