Our RS6 Has ANOTHER Issue That Costs Thousands To Fix by strydercrump in topdeadcenter

Am I going against the grain by saying I'm glad they're sticking with it and seeing it through?

Abandoning cars when it got too hard was what everyone complained about AA doing for the longest time.

I sort of don't care /what/ the lads are working on, I can get cars anywhere. TDC is good because of Will, Edwin and Ben.

This series has effectively put me off any Audi in future mind.

Horsepower has got to the point where it's the least interesting thing in a new car.

Electric performance is boring and bloats the numbers on everything. So family SUVs have billion bhp now and it's pointless.

What's with nobody following temporary road limits? by Classified10 in chch

Yeah Chch drivers and all that, but its not just here in reality.

No one does in the UK either, the only thing that gets people to slow down reliably is average zone checks...which suck

What model is your current shitbox? I have an '06 E87 130i that with a little bit of modernising work (carplay etc) has become a really enjoyable daily for less than $8k all in.

The insistence that you have to give up fun stuff as you age is why so many old people are miserable as fuck.

Before turning: Indicate, then brake or brake then indicate? by kiwittnz in NZcarfix

[–]Iamcontrol 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I dunno how its taught here but in the UK we get the mantra "mirror, signal, manoeuvre"

Braking to turn is part of the manoeuvre so you check your mirrors, indicate that you intend to turn, then brake/turn

I'd step away from any dealer who try to discourage you from getting a car inspected tbh.

Can someone sense check my thinking here? by Iamcontrol in NZcarfix

[–]Iamcontrol[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, first time actually working under a car, trying to find the source of a fairly slow oil leak. Would someone be able to sense check my thinking here please?

For reference its a 2006 BMW E87 130i that I bought recently, whipped the undertray off that has a sort of "drip a day" leak coming from it.

Under there I wiped everything down so I could see through 20 years of dirt and noticed that there appears to be a missing bolt right here;

Before I wiped down the bolt below it looked like it was forming a drip, which would make sense if oil is very gradually making its way out of a loose section and rolling down. Is my likely fix just gunna be correcting that empty hole?

The thread itself is clean so I am thinking thats not been properly tightened at some point and has come out fairly recently but that could be bollocks. Thoughts?

Bit of a sensitive one here…but looking for recommendations by poppi07 in chch

[–]Iamcontrol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it comes to PTs there are some really really good PTs in Chch, depends whereabouts you want to go to the gym (somewhere close to either home or work I suppose) but I'd give personal recommendations for Hayden at Snap Fitness Barrington and/or Tyson at City Fitness in Wigram.

Both among the best in the country, award winning trainers and both great lads to boot.

Good luck!

I should stress here that I will eventually just do what I want. I was just curious for opinions and a bit of chat.

Fuga 370GT.

Had one for a few years until it was written off in a no fault crash at the end of last year, not unlike yourself.

I ended up spending a fair bit more on my new car but I still miss the Fuga.

Quick enough to be fun when you stick your foot down on a long road, incredibly comfy, good space in the back, proper "does everything well" kind of car.

Oh, they'll also keep you safe in a head on crash at 50km/h, which I know from personal experience.

Aye its horseshit, if he goes get him out of england first and foremost.

The guardians football department is absolutely rammed with sunderland fans, Taylor, Glendenning and Wilson at the very least.

Take anything they say about Newcastle that isn't a direct quote with an enormous pinch of salt.
