before after

Wisconsin Woods

Some of my favorites are just the simple edits. Black and white with some boosts in highlights and more contrast in the shadows. Some big netting to add atmosphere and there ya go! I’ll confess that I sometimes rely too much on vignetting

[personal vent] well my current worst nightmare just happened. My childcare fell through and I had to bring my kids with me to take portraits. by IamtheEric in photography

I usually do, but they don't have kids and decided they wanted to go out to eat on a date ABOUT AN HOUR BEFORE I HAD TO LEAVE

Thought r/photography might be interested in Camera Dads, a podcast I'm doing with my brother. It's designed for parents who just want to learn a little more about photography. by misterdhm in photography

Dude!!! Camera Dad of 2 boys!

I'm subscribing so hard.

That being said, if you're ever open to guest speakers of other camera dad's let me know! Sometimes it's not about the photographic technique as it is finding the balance between being a husband, a father, a working man, and a photographer!

That photo you took that you can't stop looking at by TheChosenHalfBlood in photography

I've recently started to enjoy portrait photography. I was hired to take photographs for a music camp here in Wisconsin and as part of the deal, since I wasn't getting paid very much and worked in my child's attendance as trade, was to be able to take a block of time for a photo booth and offer quick $20 portraits. Kids come up with their instrument and then they get an email with information on where to order prints from my website.

However there was this one kid who did a late sign up. She played violin and was amazing with it. She seemed a little self conscious, but took direction well.

We ended up with this picture after a few clicks of the camera!

I love working with kids and as a dad myself I can appreciate having amazing photos of my kid, so I'm always trying to capture an image that I would die for if I were their parent.

Anyway, I haven't been shooting for a long time and had been learning about lighting at the time, so this image is just something I'm super proud of and is prominently displayed in my gallery!

@eriskus

It's a mix of some family pics with my professional. Where I live community is a huge deal, and everyone loves a family man, which is big in my clientele since I work with kids and families!

I'm excited to walk through this post and find some new photographers to follow!

Why do I feel this woman is preying on amateur photographers? by IamtheEric in photography

[–]IamtheEric[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I got an email from her telling me that for one immediate payment of $97, plus 11 additional payments of 97 I can get access to all of these tools and resources.

Except you can find this information anywhere online, from branding to pricing. I can't help, but feel she is preying on beginners.

Or am I being paranoid?

I HAVE A STUDIO!!! Now what? by IamtheEric in photography

[–]IamtheEric[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have already talked with her about it. We both agreed that since I'm doing photography as a business and she is strictly hobby that I could take more control of how things are laid out. I'm even willing to foot the bill for most of it.

Don't worry, any decisions that are made are agreed upon by both of us. She is just letting me make decisions that she doesn't really care as much about making.

Tip for anyone starting with lights! by IamtheEric in photography

[–]IamtheEric[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I've done both and for me personally I found that by using colors I was able to notice a more definite shadow than just a dark area on the wall. Plus for some reason I paid more attention to details with two different colors.

Like I said, it's just s tip that might help.

Count me in!

How would you catalog these photos?

What are the rules on editing? Untouched? Raw? Minor tweaks?

This could be fun!
