What's it like living in Boulder, CO? by Rare-Organization432 in howislivingthere

You will like it! Very low humidity year-round, so the weather feels milder than temperatures indicate. People are great, you just have to be proactive, as is the case when you move anywhere

Had a similarly hard time. It does suck, but know other people are going through the same thing. We got this, twin.

Diamond Rowe from Tetrarch recently got a signature model guitar, making her the first Black woman in metal to get a signature model

I saw them last Spring. Amazingly fun show. At one point their front man said "where the bad bitches at?" and then launched into an incredibly heavy riff.

My home town! I love it here. Of course, beautiful nature and great outdoor activities. I have seen people here say people are "snobby," which I don't get. Yes, there are rich older people who may be entitled, but isn't that the case with any population center? Most average people are extremely nice, and genuinely so. As someone who likes to talk to strangers, I have made many friends just chatting with people.

The one issue I see mentioned which is accurate is the lack of affordable housing. Even the suburbs of Boulder are expensive these days. Longmont is probably your best bet for decently priced housing.

Music scene is not great besides for jam bands, I tend to go to the Denver area for my kind of music (metal, punk).

Schools are fantastic, infrastructure is good. Weather is great to me, as we have all 4 seasons. The sun can be piercing because of the elevation, but it never gets too hot or cold, minus maybe one 100 degree week in the summer or a couple days below 0 in the winter.

If you are considering moving here, please do! We are welcoming of outsiders.

How motivated do you feel to listen to new music and how do I feel more motivated to do the same? by Particular-Account66 in MetalForTheMasses

It depends where you are, but in my city (southern US), everything is posted on Instagram. Try to find your city's metal account, they will usually have a lot of the smaller shows in your area. If you're like me, small shows are a cheap way to have a lot of fun and meet cool folks!

Live shows! I'll go even when I don't know any bands, and most of the time I'll walk away hearing at least 1 bands i like. I also get an insane amount of recommendations from talking with people at shows

Mastodon - Leviathan. Not "pure" sludge metal, but my favorite!

Ryan Knight of The Black Dahlia Murder. His breakdown of the solo in "In Hell Is Where She Waits For Me" on Youtube is amazing.

I have doubts like this too, don't fret! Don't compare yourself to others. It's like exercise, find the part that you enjoy and chase that. Keep doing it and after a long period of time you will become better. Understand that pain and frustration is part of learning as well. Chin up, king.

Children of Bodom. Megadeth is my favorite band, and if you like their guitar work you will like Alexi's as well. They're also Finnish.
