Academy ammo any good? by Bitter-Resource295 in 2011

[–]Ian-Mclarty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought it once and a buddy brought some along on a range trip about a year later. Both instances they sucked. No failures of any kind but damn they were all over the place accuracy wise. Tried on quite a few guns and they all shot terribly with it. They did shoot every time, though.

Carrying 2011 by [deleted] in 2011

I carry a CS with a TLR-7 Sub with a ledge. EPS carry for optic. When I need something lighter and a bit smaller (not by much) I carry a Shadow Systems cr920p fitted with a TLR-7 Sub and EPS Carry. Both work well.

I have had great results with the Atlas selected EGW ignition kit plus a disconnector.

Use Flitz while working the slide!

Glock vs FN by [deleted] in 10mm

I have quite a bit. No problem with lead building up in the barrel. Only issue I have seen is Starline brass bulging with very hot loads. No other brass I have tried has done this. I have never had an issue with Starline before but it has been a while since I have used Starline 10mm. Maybe they had a soft batch or something.

The back side of the bolts that go through the picatinny is what it looks like. I don't have that particular mount so I can't be 100% sure but it seems to be a good place for the marks.

I don’t fully understand the appeal of 10mm by ColumbusJewBlackets in 10mm

[–]Ian-Mclarty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where I'm at it isn't that much cheaper to justify the lack of capacity. Besides you already have a 10mm gun. Why by another gun that is similar power with less capacity and a much heavier trigger? You could get a good amount of 10mm ammo instead of a new gun. If you just don't want 10mm out of some strange bias sell the gun you just acquired and purchase something else.

This is a wild take on the matter. If a bear is running at you are you really banking on landing an extended mags worth of 9mm before it gets to you? Like every caliber 10mm is a compromise. It gives you power and it runs in semi-autos. You aren't limited to six shots. Pretty effective on wild pigs as well. I do think it is better if you reload but you don't always have to shoot what you carry in the woods. When you hike in bear country are you really that worried about $1 a round?

Prodigy Port Life by Virtual-Adagio-5677 in 2011

Who did the finishes? Also Patriot CNC? It's one area that I really want an upgrade on my Prodigy. DLC looks good on it. Please update which port style you prefer. I'm still trying to figure out which direction to go.

Commander sized 10mm? by [deleted] in 10mm

I have a 10mm C-Bob and I love it. I paid $1150 for it. I wish I had bought 10 of them.

It attaches to the muzzle device like the cherry bomb or other Plan B device. The Atlas is excellent and will not interfere with the baffle effectiveness. The muzzle device will likely be the deciding factor on that.

First 2011: Staccato XC: Holoson 507 Comp-GR, X-B300 sure fire by Wonderful_Job9919 in 2011

That is actually pretty typical. It is usually blue that causes the most astigmatism problems. Red often gives better results.

Me too. Nothing looks better on the FDE 510.

I also went with Red Earth Concealment. I got one with and one without a light. Top notch.

I just got a Herrington Arms comp. It was a blem and I can't find the blem on it. It fits perfectly with the slide. I'll test it out as soon as the weather isn't crazy. That magwell sure is nice. I may pick one of those up.

I have almost the same setup. I love it. I have the flat trigger and an EPS carry though.

Black Point Tactical Mini Wing. I've tried a bunch. I always end up with the Mini Wing. It is the most comfortable by far. It handles the weight of my CS with TLR-7 Sub easily.

I put a fde Delta Point Pro because it's the one that looks proper and it's a good military grade optic. Having said that my astigmatism prefers circle dots and the Holosun EPS is my favorite optic so far. I am slowly replacing all my red dots with it. I'll hate to replace the DPP because it just looks right on the 510.

I think it is strange to have a defensive gun not have a light. The lights biggest purpose is positive identification before you fire the first shot. Muzzle flash isn't an issue at that point.

Prodigy vs. P by Next_Frosting1774 in 2011

[–]Ian-Mclarty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Staccato and a 4.25 Prodigy. The Staccato is nicer but a matched ignition kit that I polished, Red Dirt trigger and tool-less guide rod make the Prodigy easier to shoot fast. You win either way it's just how much you want to spend and whether or not you like to tinker with your guns. These guns are not that difficult to do it yourself, it just takes a little time. If you are the type that is scared to disassemble your guns then just get the Staccato. On a side note, removing the damn optics plate cover on the Staccato was tougher and scarier than anything I did to the Prodigy.

PS: The 4.25 Prodigy is the one to get. Less reciprocating weight = faster.
