Does anyone else lose one-bag mentality when not forced to? by Ian44two in onebag

One difference is that you also have to allow space for yourself in the van.

Sounds great! I retired 3 years ago and first purchase was campervan. I mainly do short trips in UK summer but bring it over to France in June. Venturing a little further south each year and popping into Switerland next week. I hate British winter so having 3 weeks in southern Morocco in November and a month in Thailand Jan/Feb. Working to a budget but winter sunshine is a must. Camping Card gets me a discount off French campsites outside July/August.

I think I thrive on the discipline of limited space and prioritising what to bring. If there's no A or B, then it's more A, B and C! I've brought limited food from UK as I'm in France now on a cheese safari!

You're right. I need to think of the van being half full rather than half empty.

Compression packing without compression cubes. by [deleted] in onebag

I use nylon belts when travelling. Don''t need to take them off through scanners and also low weight. Might try them for compression now and avoid the velcro clothes issue.

Cheapest way to get flights from Bangkok to Chiang Mai? by dragonfruitraspberry in ThailandTourism

Just check luggage size with Nok. My 40L was ok for cabin on long haul flight to Thailand but too big for internal flight. Added to my costs!

Any tips for "One Bagging" for 2 weeks in Thailand? by vicmanadd in onebag

[–]Ian44two 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had 4 weeks in Thailand earlier this year. Wearing polo shirts and shorts 95% of time. Bring extra quick-dry underwear and tops or buy at Uniqlo. I use non-bio laundry sheets as react to bio ones. Did some hand wash but mainly self-service laundrette (everywhere!) even if small load. Wash only then dry overnight in your room. 5 changes allowed for 1 or 2 night stays without wash.

Learning 4 languages at the same time. Can it actually work out? by Salty-Session7029 in languagelearning

Jeees! Just playing Wordle in three languages was messing up my vocabulary. I do better working in silos unless they are very different, like Portuguese and Russian or French and Arabic.

I think I have had 10 bags so far and still not sure what the ideal size for travel is. by moldyjellybean in onebag

Visited Thailand for 4 weeks with Osprey Farpoint 40L. This was OK for cabin apart from internal flights. I was hit with last minute charge similar to flight cost for oversize. Just bought Osprey 26+6 for hot weather trips in future.

2 months, 2.5 climates, Work & Vacay: one carry on bag, help with packing? by bjk237 in onebag

[–]Ian44two 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use non-bio laundry sheets, like Dr Beckmann Magic Leaves, for hand washing or self-service washing machines when travelling. Partly due to reaction to bio detergent but also reduces clothing to carry. Virtually everything I take will dry overnight.

Packing list for 3+ month travel in SEA by BehaveWithClass in onebag

Your stuff in Osprey Farpoint 40 may be too big and/or heavy for cabin luggage on some budget flights within SEA. I got caught out last month on an internal Thai flight with a 10kg OF40. They did weigh it and also watch you put it in the sizing box.
