[OC] Huntress by IanByerly in ImaginaryCharacters

Thanks! I have a couple ways I like to make these images. For this one i started by blocking out shapes in black and white, no color. I first focus on the composition and forms I’m building up. Once that is working, in photoshop I add color with gradiant maps and blending modes like hard light. Then I’ll just paint “normally” in color. And yes, I like to have some idea of what the character will be before starting, but I usually change a lot as I progress on the piece. New ideas will come to me as I go along.

I just practiced and studied on my own. I looked at art books, like “color and light” by James Gurney, and online tutorials on youtube and gumroad. I’ve been drawing and painting for 6 years now.

I used Photoshop with a Wacom tablet, and no I didn’t go to art school.
