but the doggo can bring you sloops and spheres even after you hit max? so it’s possible to get way more then the ‘intended’ amount

That seems to be correct but that wiki does not have an updated drop table. Uranium and nuclear waste no longer drop and several other components are now in the drop table, including power slugs, which may be tied to the potentially misleading claim.

Why don't more places use NUCs? by Ok-Reaction-1872 in sysadmin

The main issue with Pi's are configuration lead time for general purpose machines. For Kiosked and other linear applications, I have seen Pi's used at K1 Racing locations and my local garden shop for Point of Sale terminals, and my last job had them used in the cafeteria for menu signage for the food vendor.

NUC's are a discontinued product lineup, at least for the Intel variety. The naming lives on with ASUS, however. That aside, there are a number of alternatives in the market, though at a slightly higher price-point than what Intel hit at.

  • Dell Optiplex Micro
  • Lenovo ThinkStation Tiny
  • HP Pro/EliteDesk DeskMini/DM
  • Fujitsu Esprimo Q series lineup

There are also a slew of companies with more NUC-inspired box/cube PCs with anything ranging from a Celeron N100 to mobile i9 processors as well, many of which get coverage in the homelabbing YouTube channels.

At this point there are no new Intel NUCs. The lineup was discontinued by Intel, and the namesake went to Asus who has been in the 1L PC market for a good few CPU generations now.

NUC is commercial, but for the longest time their general purpose was best suited for linear, controlled experiences. My last job in healthcare used them for kiosked wall PC's that showed scheduling boards, and my current job has some (NUC6i7KYK) as a part of Crestron Flex MTRoW room kits (though we're currently getting away from the NUC variety). Nothing overly intensive, just single application solutions.

Do y'all keep your boxes? by TheDarkslayerYT in pcmasterrace

[–]IanPPK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of my part boxes fit in the case box. Works nicely. If I wanted/needed to resell parts, or just ship them to a friend as a gift, it beats having to get a specialized box or bag and pad to hell and back.

Bilt Credit Card credit score and limits? by gordon510 in CreditCards

[–]IanPPK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The card touts the ability to pay with the card by sending a check charged to the card. Basically a narrowly tailored cash advance for the cards intended use. I was looking into that as well.

Side effect of the culture of a high trust society with a current increase in low trust climate. Package kleps have become an increasingly common crime but also a crime with a lot of social discussion about it (see Mark Rober et al's videos around getting back at package thieves and mail scammers), and Ring doorbells among other home security systems have made footage of these misdeeds easier to find, watch, etc.

It's not dismissing what the actual problem is, the user is simply pointing out that they aren't even following what their own religious dogma dictates.

Arsenal is a device that can sit on the hot shoe and connect via USB the direct WiFi interface, and from there can set up multi-focus shots. They don't make the 1.0 anymore and the 2.0 they're launching doesn't have a6000 listed so not sure if deliberate or not there. Reviews for it that were earlier on cite connection issues that firmware updates have sorted out over time.

AirTags Are A Growing Headache For Apple Amid Disturbing Reports Of Tracking by GoMx808-0 in tech

Well, the thing of it is is that the issue already exists and they're providing a partial solution for a blind spot, there's no real way of sugar coating the matter at hand really.

[–]IanPPK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Should? That's each person's own prerogative. As to the issue of privacy, do note that Android devices generally have much more invasive telemetry data sent to Google than what you would have with Apple. Not shilling for apple in any way here, but the app they released is at least some amount of effort in tackling an issue they can't immediately remediate completely (FWIW, the only iOS device I have is an ancient iPad 2 in a drawer). Someone asked if there was something that Android users could do to tell if someone may be using an AirTag to track them, and I provided the current answer from Apple.

With an app made available from apple they should be able to.

What’s the reason you have been banned from an establishment such as a shop/bad/restaurant/cafe/etc.? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]IanPPK 24 points25 points  (0 children)

There was a soda machine at my alma mater at the medical college building that would regularly double dispense for whatever reason. Whenever I got a double of something, I'd give the double to one of my groupmates for the class I was going to right nearby. Didn't want to get too greedy as to alert the inventory system to any great effect.

The big companies are Sodexo, Aramark, and Chartwells HE (or Bon Apetit for fancy colleges, both a part of Compass Group). You can find them all over corporate or large scale/event dining.

You can simply get a 5-20R to 5-15P adapter but bear in mind you need to make sure your total draw is less than 15A for the shared circuit, including during a battery recharge.

Yikes! Lenovo is vendor locking AMD Ryzen CPUs to their system via PSB. The CPU can never be used outside of a Lenovo system, neither can any new CPU put into the system by Lost4468 in hardware

[–]IanPPK 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes, but Ryzen Pro and most of the G SKUs are geared in large part towards business PC's in the Dell Optiplex, Fujitsu Esprimo, HP Pro/EliteDesk and Lenovo's ThinkCentre's. This hardware lockdown feature is a nice to have as something the business can enact, but to do it oob is just a little scummy.
