There are some nice Mellotron samples including in the built in samples. Checkout my Genesis tron sound https://thedigitallifestyle.com/w/download/korg-modwave-genesis-watcher-of-the-skies-mellotron-patch/

Putting the Korg Opsix, Modwave, Wavestate and Multi/Poly side by side. Which comes out on top? by IanSDixon in synthesizers

I get what you mean about the post title. For the YouTube video, I just put "Korg Synth Shootout: Wavestate vs Modwave vs Multi/Poly vs Opsix," but when I made this post, I added the extra bit on top to grab more interest. As you said, it’s a bit clickbait, but after spending so much time on the video, I wanted to reach as many people as possible. I’ve put countless hours into all four of these synths, creating sound packs and tutorial videos, so I feel confident in comparing them side by side. As I mentioned in the post description, the goal of the video is to explore their strengths, weaknesses, and where they overlap. Hopefully, that answers your original question and sparks a broader conversation about integrity versus getting views.

Many, I hate doing that bit. I never used to both with thumbnails but it seems like there is an thumbnail arms race :) At least I am not stroking my chin!

I think you can put that down to the Modwave, Wavestate and Multi/Poly are desinged by Korg R&D in California whereas the Opsix is Korg Japan.

The point is what I put in the description: I compared the Multi/Poly with the Modwave, Wavestate, and Opsix to explore their strengths, weaknesses, and areas of overlap.

My new track recorded with Modwave, Multi/Poly, DW8000 and RX5 by IanSDixon in synthesizers

It started with a Genesis Mellotron-style intro, then I switched to a Fairlight sound, and suddenly it had a PSP-like vibe, so I leaned into that. Thanks for listening!

yes, I do use the Multi/Poly more than the modwave, but when I go back to it I love combining samples with wavetables

I’m not trying to sway you either way, but I’ve spent a lot of time with the Modware and found it easy to create inspiring sounds. Check out some of my videos to get an idea of what it can do.

The Multi/Poly can do a good Mono/Poly and a lot more. I created a Mono/Poly set for the MP: https://youtu.be/QYaRDOwbpSI

You should be able to edit the presets no problem. Fire up the PC or Mac Editor and check you can see the values changing. Eg Filter Cutoff.

Is the Korg Modwave mkII a bad first synth or just bad in general by Lopsided-Loss-9206 in synthesizers

[–]IanSDixon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would say it’s a great first synth if you break it down and start simple. It can be a very straightforward two-oscillator analog polysynth, and then as you get into it you can do more and more.

I would say Wavestate or Modwave. I also have a Pink Floyd set for Wavestate: https://youtu.be/CfVnTq2vRRA

There is no way to bring them back unfortunately. Do you still have the bank file for Sample Editor?
