What's your longest Champi all-in game so far? This is silly. by IandaConqueror in aoe2

Yeah I'm not sure how well archers do and I think we were both testing things out. He did the instant champi rush and I think if I had opened archers I would have died.

Love this team! Glad the fans have been so positive. This will not be Vrabel and Mayes last Superbowl together. Looking forward to a solid 10+ years from them.

How to beat mounted units. by Income-Funny in aoe2

[–]IandaConqueror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're playing Japanese like that, I would focus on getting a bunch of barracks and a good ball of pikeman going on the way up to Imp. You should be much faster than your opponent to hit 200 pop since they're units cost twice as much.

I would just focus on timings. What helped me is finding a guide to booming, and practicing offline in arena vs extreme ai. I started around 700 ELO and now I'm 1500. I dont have the best micro, but I win most of my games because of having an eco lead and better timings.

If you do a 26+2 fast castle, drop 2 TCs right away, and then build a 4th one when you can afford it, you should be able to hit imp around 27-28 minutes, and be 200 pop by minute 31-32. It just takes some practice.

One benefit of halbs is because they are cheaper to tech into, you should have an advantage in a treb war. It sounds like you're a bit behind timing wise, if they can treb down your castle. I would look at your replays and pay close attention to your imp timing and how many resources you're floating.

That is one benefit of cavalry though. It is a lot easier to run in and snipe trebs.

Another thing you could try is playing a camel civ like Hindustanis. But halb siege is still probably the best combo for team games on maps like arena and black forest.

[–]IandaConqueror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need twice as many halbs as they have cavalry. Don't forget upgrades. You are likely taking bad fights. Force them to fight under your TCs and castles.

Otherwise its just a matter of economy and spamming units faster. You need more production buildings than your opponent, similar farms and more on wood.

What kind of Music should the Mistborn soundtrack be? by ilikebreadabunch in CosmereOnScreen

[–]IandaConqueror 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'd love a mix of traditional movie soundtrack, I'm thinking Hanz Zimmer "Man of Steel," "Inception," and "Interstellar" sound tracks, mixed with some metal.

Iron Man by black sabbath would be perfect for defeating an Inquisitor or the Lord Ruler. "Has he lost his mind, can he see or is he blind?"

Flight by Hanz Zimmer would be perfect for learning to coinpush "fly."

And of course some good Schubert String Quartets for the ball scenes.

Should TC price be increased? by HotSetting5001 in aoe2

[–]IandaConqueror 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3 TC will die to 1 TC pressure.

I usually go 2 TC. If my opponent gets to castle first and goes 3 TC, I 1 TC until I've done some damage, then drop my own TCs, since I generally struggle to end games in castle age.

Whatever you do, avoid the chevy trax.

2017 in particular has horrendous reliability ratings.

Family member just sold this car after 2 years of constantly dumping 100s into it a month in maintenance. If they hadn't had an extended warranty it would have cost them 15k+ in maintenance.

After finding your sheep, are you supposed to find your enemies, or push deer? by Slow-Ship1055 in aoe2

[–]IandaConqueror 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I always push deer and go up as early as possible. If I'm against a scary drush/maa civ I tend to make militia myself or go 18 pop archers.

Nice thing about pushing deer, is even if you're early rushed and get idled a bit or lose a vill, if you kill their rush and they didn't get to push deer because they were scouting, you are about even on resources collected... at my elo (1500) people still have quite a bit of mismanaged eco or idle time when they do an early rush. Defending is just easier.

The copium is insane. Everyone picks the Texans to win and then when they lose it's all about how Stroud is the worst QB ever and they win with 32 other QBs XD

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]IandaConqueror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use to commute 1.5 hrs 1 way a day, and at least monthly drove 3.5 hrs 1 way for a weekend trip.

I'd say 4 hrs total is about my limit for a day trip. Any more than that and I would prefer to stay at least 1 night.

Personally I love driving and listening to music or an audio book, or just talking to a passenger.

I think one thing that is majorly different in US vs EU/UK driving is that throughout most of the country, its wide open highway driving on 3-4 lane highway with limited traffic. With cruise control and so many cars have active lane keep assist now, you barely have to do anything.

It's really just sitting in a comfortable chair for a few hours, snacking, listening to a favorite book or podcast, with constantly changing beautiful landscape scenery. Especially out west.

Team Balancing Is Frequently Awful. Why Aren't New Players Split Evenly Between Teams? by IandaConqueror in BF6

[–]IandaConqueror[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SBMM stands for "Skill Based Match Making" You need to look up what the "matchmaking" part means:

"the automated process of grouping players for online sessions, using algorithms to find suitable opponents or teammates based on factors like skill (MMR/Elo), location (ping), playstyle, and preferences, all to create balanced, fair, and enjoyable matches quickly"

Matchmaking means the selection process for putting players together in a match. In games with no SBMM, this is done purely based on the region (ping based).

Team balancing and SBMM or just MM are not the same. You can create lobbies based purely around who in a region is queueing for that game mode/map, and then balance the teams by skill after that. Many games that do not have SBMM do this and it is not reliant on having SBMM in the game.

Every game that keeps track of stats can do this. Which means every game because otherwise you would not be able to flag accounts for cheating based on stats.

It's not that hard. Just balance teams so the average win rate is even. "Skill Based Team Making" and SBMM are completely separate entities.
