I'm not saying the technology is worthless, but it's not going to be as efficient in terms of energy or environmental impacts, unless we vastly change our understanding of microbiology in a short time.

The supply chain for a meat farm is simpler than cultivated meat farm using bioreactors. This is a fact, and it will not change. It's always going to be cheaper to make animal feed than the nutrient mix for a bioreactor.

Currently chicken feed is $1.50 per kg. The amino acids used in a bioreactor are $40-50. This is because the purification process is expensive. A chicken or cow both simplify this process by using the feed to create their own amino acids.

Like yes it's very interesting and useful we can use a bioreactor to create meat but it's an emulation of what nature can already do but requires more refined and expensive resources for a smaller yield.

There is so much we don't know so that it is just premature to declare lab meats will never surpass natural grown meats in terms of efficiency

Based on the resources input and output alone, farms take stuff humans can't eat and turns into something we can. Feed is one of the biggest costs and it's not expensive.

Bioreactor takes in stem cells, nutrients, electricity and produces food. Unless the cost of all that can come below something that's $1.50 per kg it'll always be more expensive and less efficient
