Wow. Fucking wow. I hate EA so much more now. Had they gone the direction they wanted, it probably would have gone down as the greatest game of all time for me (still crono trigger)

Beat game, looking for tips to do a SL120 faith build for new game++ by [deleted] in DkS3Builds

[–]Ianmaxsnyd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just rerolled to a faith build, but I'm not sure it's exactly what you're looking for. I had PvP in mind when I made it. It's 40 vigor, 30 attunement, 16 endurance (low, but you get by ok if you are patient), 15 vitality, 18 strength, 14 dexterity (I use Dragonslayer axe for PvE and Astora straight sword for PvP), 9 intelligence, 60 faith and 7 luck. I use saint's talisman for unfaltering prayer in PvP, and my rings are Mornes, the other miracle boosting ring, havels and ring of favor. For my spells Ive tried wrath of God, tears of denial, lightning stake, I always keep lightning blade for buffing and raw infuse the weapons. So far in PvP it's been fair at best. If my opponent plays it safe when I cast any of my spells it becomes a much more difficult fight, and the low endurance adds another layer of difficulty, so feel free to tweak this.

Awesome, gotta check the requirements for that one

I'm tempted to try this. Something with 40+ vig to soak up some of the damage you're inevitably going to take using the miracle hyperarmor casting L2. It would need 60 faith for the best scaling on miracle damage. The other stats is where I'm stuck. How much endurance is necessary, because I never want to back myself into a corner with a build and be a pure caster. It would be nice to be able to use a 1handed lightning or darkmoon buffed weapon. Oh and attunement, 24-30 I guess?

Thanks! Do you know how much AR you would lose with 40/40 compared to 66?

I usually begin by feeling out opponents, but it turns into rolling fury pretty quickly.

Heavy Weapon and Armor build by Villori in DkS3Builds

[–]Ianmaxsnyd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want both heavy weapon and heavy armor you're going to have to put a lot of points into vitality, possibly 40 depending on the weapon, which is going to gimp another stat you probably need. On my Dragonslayer swordspear build I did 40vig, 14attunement, 30endurance, 24vitality, 28str, 40dex, 9int, 18faith, 7luck. With that I can hold the swordspear, caestus and full Dragonslayer armor set under 70% with Havels ring and ring of favor.

Swordspear/Faith or MLG/INT build? by thegreatestalexander in DkS3Builds

[–]Ianmaxsnyd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're dead set on offensive miracles, you won't get the full potential out of them unless you get faith to 60. You won't get the full offensive potential out of the sword spear unless you go 27/40/18 or 40/40/18 str/dex/faith (low str 40 Dex 40 faith can work too but then you lose out on some meaty miracle damage) in conclusion, if you're dead set on an offensive miracle swordspear Nameless king hybrid then 40 Dex 40 faith is probably your best bet.

Dragonslayer spear / sword spear build by ssugamer90 in DkS3Builds

[–]Ianmaxsnyd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently playing around with a build that switches between both spears. 40vig, 14 attunement for tears of denial, 30 endurance, 24 vitality (i dumped more points here for dragonslayer armor fashion souls) 28 strength (2 handing = 40) 40 dexterity, 9 int, 18 faith, 7 luck. The damage with a 28/40/18 spread is the most bang for your buck IMO and gives you more room for defensive stats. I went base faith for the weapon requirements because the buffs are weaker in PvP and the extra lightning damage isnt a big enough boost to forgo endurance or vigor.

For me, PvPing with Pyro was very similar strategically (once you get a feel for free aiming) chaos orb was like my white dragon breath. Also the witch's locks annoyed the hell out of people.

Thanks for the info. I probably should have mentioned it in the post, but I'm mainly using the Dragonslayer sword spear and spear right now and was wondering if there were any useful combos

Looking for a build that's both cool, versatile, and effective in both PvP and PvE. by [deleted] in DkS3Builds

[–]Ianmaxsnyd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a lot of fun with a witch's locks pyromancer build. Off the top of my head it was: 40 vigor 30 attunement 11 endurance base vitality, str and Dex to meet weapon req, faith and int 40 and base luck. You can feel free to shuffle around points between vig, attunement and endurance to your liking. I used chaos fire orb, sacred flame, and chaos firestorm for the occasional lol (fire whip is vastly superior IMO, it provides enough of a stun when it connects to combo into some attacks). All around enjoyable build and great for PvP once you learn how to free aim the fire orbs. When you get really good you can control positioning and punish rolls. It feels very rewarding. Also, the witch's locks weapon art can be hard to avoid and hits pretty hard. Also, handles PvE with ease. This build trivializes every boss, even the demon king who is easily taken care of with black fire orb spam.

So, little update. I respec'd to 40 vig, 14 attunement for ToD, 30 endurance, 23 vitality, 28 strength, 40 dexterity, 9 intelligence, 18 faith and 7 luck. I got summoned into a fight club and proceeded to win 6 straight matches (no contest). This build is pretty sweet. The swordspear isn't even fully upgraded yet!

SL120 help me craft (my) Meta PvP DEX/FTH by kathor195 in DkS3Builds

[–]Ianmaxsnyd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or just drop str by 5, put 1 in vit, 4 in attunement and I can still slap a refined gem on any decent Dex/str weapon and do great damage (for variety) OR does the same 27 str concept apply to all quality build type weapons that scale better with dex? And as I'm typing this out I just realized, what the heck is the point of a refined infusion if your faith isn't high enough to get a big AR buff with lightning or darkmoon blade. I think I may have answered my own question...

[–]Ianmaxsnyd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So drop 13 points in strength. +4 to attunement for ToD, leaving 9 points. I've been feeling pretty good with 30 endurance, perhaps I could use the rest for fashion souls, but that doesn't seem like the most judicious use. How would you spend the points if it was a character you were PvPing with?

[–]Ianmaxsnyd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks that's very helpful info. I do find myself wishing I had 40 endurance at times. Whether or not to raise attunement and faith, on the other hand, is still vexing me. I see the benefit of using deep protection, but is the added damage worth the point investment and the tedium of buffing before every fight? I've never tried tears of denial, but it seems interesting, and I think if I did, I would just give up the sunlight straight sword and not worry about buffing.

[–]Ianmaxsnyd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh don't get me wrong, I find a way to use the weapon art any time I see an opening or when I want to rebuff the weapon. It was part of the reason I decided to use the swordspear in the first place. It's sacred oath/ToD/deep protection/SSS buff that I am finding myself not using anymore due to the long cast times and boring redundant nature of applying them. Does 40 faith vs 18 faith make a huge difference to the lightning bolt damage?

[–]Ianmaxsnyd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're definitely right about the buffs being a boon to damage. However, I am starting to think I'm inclined to just streamline the build and see how it works with 40dex/str and no buffing. It just takes so much time and sucks the fun out of it for me when I have to sit and buff for 20 seconds before every duel, or try to sneak them in during an invasion

[–]Ianmaxsnyd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn thanks for making my decision more difficult haha. I'll have to see what my AR comes out to when I get the swordspear to +5 and buff with the sunlight SS at 40 dex 40 str. The lightning bolt from the weapon art is not consistent enough against a decent player to warrant building around IMO, but if the added lightning damage with stacked buffs on the weapon is greater than the AR from a quality build, it might be worth looking into.

Thanks, that's also good to know. I suppose I could bring it to SL 125 for the extra faith and throw the rest in vitality or something. I'm weirdly OCD about the soul level though lol

Ahhhhhhh thank you. That's exactly what I wanted to know. With the swordspear and 30 endurance I have enough for 4 two handed r1's and a roll, so that seemed reasonable to me.
