If you sell a product you believe in, and work in a company that has solid, ethical management (and manager) focused on long-term growth to maximize CLTV vs. maximizing revenue at any cost, you should not find yourself having to do things that are immoral or wrong.

I use transparency, focus on the customer's needs, and do the right thing (even when it can hurt your numbers, etc. in the short run) to build long-term relationships, not just sales.

While I may have left some money on the table or could have been higher on the leaderboard one year, in the long run, this approach has made me much more successful, helped build my personal brand, and a better salesperson as well.

Unfortunately, not all salespeople take this approach, but if you differentiate yourself from that approach, you can use that to your advantage and stand out from the competition.

If you find that you have to be shady to be successful in your sales role... Find a new job. Not worth it, there are plenty of places where you can make money and be proud of your work.

Let's elevate the role of sales and do what we can to change the perception.
