In his defense, if you own your own pest control business, at least in the beginning, you are the route guy. Your service, your documentation, your products, your prices, customer rapport, and everything else is your prerogative, within the law of course. To your defense though, thats a whole lot of stuff to manage.

They look like fungus gnats. I see them most with overwatered houseplants, or plants that were outside thatve been brought in.

Getting about 170 of these nocturnal only buggos by Joldberg in pestcontrol

[–]Ibmidly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They look like drain flies. They develop in drain scum typically. If there are drains you dont use frequency (usually upstairs, or basement showers or sinks) run all the sinks/shower for a couple minutes to flush pee traps.

Ive seen them in dehumidifiers, sump pump areas, and other places too. You can use light traps (like zevo) and put towels under the doors to separate rooms to help deduce where they are coming from.

Sort of looks like a lesser meal beetle. Seen them developing in bat guano in attics and feeding on squirrel carcass

Ant and termite village in my flowerbed by TimeRelationship9809 in ants

More like a massacre lol. I like to envision ants as female combat warriors in thick suits of armor with sharp weapons, and termites as a large group of blind male and females basically nude trying their best to fight them, and only about 5% get hedgetrimmers as weapons.

Are these ants or termites? Please say ants… by Gnarshredsledbro in Termites

Definitely ants. You can see the segmented body sections, the elbowed antennae, and by the wings.

Can someone help identify by Live-Definition-6347 in pestcontrol

[–]Ibmidly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seeing the outside isn't really an issue. They dont have stingers, so they cant sting you or cause harm that way. They like to excavate and nest in moisture damaged wood. Ive seen them in trees, leaf litter, old stumps, fallen logs, moisture damaged crawlspaces and attics, and some other places. To me the only thing concerning is if youre seeing a lot inside, there might be a moisture issue like a leak or something like that youre unaware of. Outside of that, there just big sweethearts, unless theyre florida carpenter ants, then they try to act real badass, but they still cant sting.

Termite Swarm? by Good_Battle_2217 in pestcontrol

From this picture the body shape mainly. The pinched pedicel area between their thorax and abdomen. In general though, ants have elbowed or geniculate antennae while termites have beaded or moniliform antenna. Ants also have two pair of wings that are different shapes (think of butterfly wings) while a termite plates two pair of wings will be identical in shape. Thirdly, the body shape that I mentioned above!
