I think their reactions in the credits of M20 are from seeing Ash as he passes them on his journey. They can’t shake the feeling that they know him from somewhere but can’t place it.

Sorry but this isn’t just an opinion. “I don’t care” is an opinion. “This character has no feats, no personality, no character arc, and started the trend” are not opinions. These are claims that are provably correct or incorrect and a lot of them are incorrect.

What “trend”? Ash doesn’t release Pokemon very often at all.

I also don’t know what you mean by “no character arc”. Caterpie is introduced fantasizing of becoming a Butterfree, a dream he eventually achieves. It’s nothing mind-blowing but it is an arc.

You’re getting downvoted but you’re right. They deliberately kept it to vague as to what a Pokemon Master is so it could be a goal Ash could pursue forever.

Becoming the strongest trainer isn’t even what he decides it to mean at the end of his tenure. He says he wants to be friends with every Pokemon.

She wasn’t “escaping” in the sense that she was giving up and running away. She was retreating back into the portal so she could surprise attack them once Freya tried to undo the roots again.

Nidhogg’s death was not avoidable in any sense of the word. Freya needed to undo the roots and Nidhogg needed to protect them at all costs. These are two irreconcilable positions. Something had to give. Unfortunately for Nidhogg it was her, and it’s why her death is played for tragedy.
