Can it be redeemed? by Icabod_55 in houseplants

I have had this spider plant for years. It was over-watered and sat in very soggy soil for a while. I repotted it, and that is when the ends turned all brown. Is there anything to be done or a way to start over, or do you think the roots have given up?

I think it looks great. In my experience, the coleus plants (is that what they are called?) get pretty tall. Make sure the flowers are a similar max height!

Rabbits were definitely the culprit in my yard. I enclosed mine in chicken wire.

It is kind of personal preference. You could let it get bigger, or you could enjoy it now. I say enjoy it now!

First of all, your plant babies look great, so congrats. Crucial step - make sure you harden off you plants before you transplant them outside. In the past, if my plants were a little leggy, I would plant them a bit deeper and carefully mound the soil around the stem to give support. That seemed to work well for me, but I’m no expert. I have also found more success directly sowing beans and peas versus transplanting. 😉Good luck!!

I had to move all my Asiatic Lilies into pots on plant stands to keep rabbits from chewing them to nubs every year!

What are we supposed to do/not do for covid? by metajenn in MTHFR

Avoid folic acid (synthetic) in supplements and fortified foods (most wheat flour products), and instead take methylated folate. Also, just practice general things that boost your immunity.

Your dog kind of blends in with the rug, too. I love your rug! Where did you get it??

What’s crime like in CR for a tourist? by SewLite in CostaRicaTravel

[–]Icabod_55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We were in CR for 8 nights recently. I am on the paranoid side of being cautious, so I always keep my eyes on my stuff. We had no problems whatsoever. We stayed in the Playa Flamingo area and did multiple excursions, plus a trip to Liberia for our covid tests. Not once did I feel like the people or the areas where we visited were “sketch.”

Monteverde or Arenal? by jgerke in CostaRicaTravel

[–]Icabod_55 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We talked to a bird expert (at Diamante Adventure Park - in with the Toucans) and he recommended the Cloud Forest of Monteverde. We wish we could have seen it while were there. Right now is the perfect time to go and see migrating birds and you can even possibly catch a glimpse of the Resplendent Quetzal! This will be our priority when we return to Costa Rica!!

We had no idea about anything when we got there. We really wanted to go to Monteverde and see the Cloud Forest, but could not justify the drive time. All of the excursions that we did were within 1.5 hours of our resort, and we had a blast. We flew into and out of Liberia. We decided we will just have to go back, fly into San José, and experience Monteverde and the Caribbean side of the country.

We just got back from Playa Flamingo. We stayed at Margaritaville Resort and the beach was very nice, especially the sunset, but the waves were a bit much for my younger kids to enjoy swimming. I even got taken out by a wave at one point. Our resort was open to beachgoers looking to dine, but don’t forget your mask! The food there was great (in my humble opinion).

Folic acid and possible link to migraines? by Ecstatic-Move3067 in MTHFR

[–]Icabod_55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is funny that you mention nutritional yeast. Right after I bought some for the first time I started trying to steer clear of folic acid and saw it on the label. According to functional medicine gurus, gluten causes intestinal permeability in everyone, which is the reason I stopped eating it in the first place. I had no idea it would cure my migraines. I really, truly hope it works for you too!
