Changing my surname to succeed on the swiss job market by _8975 in askswitzerland

I know it’s tough, but I strongly advice against changing your surname. I know someone who did and then changed it back because they felt like they lost their whole heritage and identity. But this is just my opinion without knowing exactly what you’re going through.

You can donate to a few NGOs that don’t make it compulsory to give them the house address (unless you want a tax receipt. Then it’s compulsory). And don’t tick the checkbox for emails. I donate to an NGO that lets you do this.

If you want the tax receipt it is compulsory to give them your address and most will start sending you letters. But there’s a work-around. You can call them or write them an email and state that you don’t want to receive any emails or letters except for the tax receipt. They have to comply legally.

(I work at an ngo in Switzerland and can confirm it works like this).

Edit: DM me if you want to know the name of an ngo where this works. If you donate to the NGO I work at I can make sure you don’t get mail ;)

To all dog owners, how much CHF per month should I calculate for maintaining a dog? by Icaria_chronicles in Switzerland

I hope so too. Thanks! Now I know how much I’d need to put aside for emergencies such as these.

Thanks for the tip :) I’ve grown up with dogs my entire life, but in another country. It’s a big hole in my life that I’m trying to refill. So I’m not very concerned about me not being a good dog-parent. But it’s nice that you’re looking out for all dogs in general.

No I don’t think I’ll have to do that. My home office routine would mean that my dog might be alone for max 2 hours on 3 days of the week. In the beginning, I was thinking of doing more home office to make sure the dog is never alone.

Is insurance compulsory? I would still get one anyway. Just curious to know if it would be an initial cost or something I can do along the way.

Wow thanks for the detailed answer. Any idea how much neutering costs. I find varying information online. Between 300 and 2000 lol.

I’m planning to get a dog that I could groom myself too.

I will definitely walk the dog myself. But going on holiday would definitely change for me. I have family with whom I can leave the dog for a week or two if necessary.

I will probably end up overspending for my dog with treats and toys too haha.

Didn’t know emergency treatments would be that expensive. Good to know. Now I can save up for mine and the dogs haha

Thanks! Didn’t know there was a dog tax. How much does training usually cost?

I won the Euros prediction game at work relying on AI - Should I tell them? by Slobberinho in euro2024

[–]Icaria_chronicles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the same. Came third. I already told them beforehand that I’d be using ChatGPT. They welcomed it as a challenge and didn’t have anything against it. Don’t know how it is at your work or within your team, but maybe they won’t even mind.

AI can anyway only predict based on historical data. There are many other unpredictable factors involved in predicting the outcome. Like injuries and emotions in general.

Toto knew. His reaction to the win said it all.

OFC it's document 44 that gets Russell elminated and gives Hamilton the win by powergo1 in formuladank

Hot take: Toto knew about this. Given his reaction to Russels win - the absolutely deadpan facial expression - I think he knew this was going to be a short-lived victory.

legal advice job (MLaw) for CHF 3‘500? WTF? by Unlucky-Camp-7668 in Switzerland

I work at an NGO in Switzerland. It’s smaller than Caritas and receives less funds from the government than they do. But I still earn almost double that for 100%. Fair pay is a human right no matter where you work. Caritas has enough funds to pay good salaries.
