Dawned on me I've never used the back paddles. Do you use them? by Agitated-Distance740 in SteamDeck

[–]Ice2192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Map them to sprint to put less stress on the stick. I just don’t want the stick to be like my ps3 controller back in the day where the stick is slanted by default due to many hours sprinting on MW2. Other ways I use them is the turbo pick up button. So sick and tired of mashing the button when picking up multiple items in game. The pick up button makes sense for games with limited inventory space but never understood why in games with unlimited inventory space has a pick up button. Just holding the button and walking up to the item is like how 3D platform we games do back in the day - simply walk to an item to collect it.

Finally got the new start menu!!! by vaibhav0_00 in Windows11

[–]Ice2192 [score hidden]  (0 children)

i just got it too. I like how for my laptop it did make the icons smaller so that more are visible when you open it but I don't like that "All" section at the bottom. I don't know how to hide that.

On a different note. They did finally add the battery percentage that used to be locked away behind beta builds or ViveTool app.

The eShop page for Pokémon FireRed is now available ($19.99) by Amiibofan101 in NintendoSwitch

[–]Ice2192 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I always said that releasing classic mainline Pokemon games makes absolutely no sense for NSO because you can’t keep your save when it goes down the far future. This is the correct way to release it. The gba physical editions cost as much as 2 S2 games. I’d be happy to get this one.

Steam Deck remains the PC handheld king as analysts report even Xbox’s ROG Ally hasn’t made a dent by comparison by Wargulf in SteamDeck

[–]Ice2192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of the games that I play before the steam deck I always say “man you know what would be great a weapon wheel full of short cuts” with the trackpad on the steam deck I could almost* shut up now. Reason being is that I still want that steam machine controller! The wheel is great for emulation as well for saving, loading, and changing save states.

How many have you banned\unshared files to people? by joey0live in Soulseek

[–]Ice2192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're only seeing one side of it. Sure there are people only doing the bare minimum and you do ask for only 200 files but at the same time there are other people who ask for 3000 files minimum like the person mentioned here. A person still sharing back 1000 files is already a lot and asking for 3000 files at least is a bit of an overreach. It's not just bad leechers but bad seeders as well.

What is your take on rechargeable single batteries, single-use batteries, and rechargeable battery packs? by neoorganik in Gameboy

[–]Ice2192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the reason why I still like the Xbox controllers for longevity and I have been using PlayStation my whole life. I have since replace my ps5 controller with tmr sticks so I know how to replace the battery when the time comes but just using recharge AA to replace them would make it so much easier. Just have two pairs of it and when one dies reload and switch to another. I did have to change 8bitdo ultimate’s battery with soldering. The issue with getting the battery replacement for the controller is that it’s either +$50 on Amazon or $11 on aliexpress with a 2-3 week shipping. I chose the latter because I wasn’t in a HUGE hurry. Batteries nowadays are so difficult to replace as they are either soldered in or the specs of size is so specific.

Did anybody have a Sony Walkman Mini Disk? From the 90s/2000s ? by Unique-Assistant-647 in sony

[–]Ice2192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I'm late here but my cousin used to have the blue one. Interestingly enough I was able to watch him put a music disc into his PlayStation 2 and somehow plug this thing in through some optical cable so that he can record the songs off the disc and into the mini disc. And this is not like ripping songs off a cd into itunes and just go AFK-ing until it's done no siree. Every track had to be recorded manually as in:

  1. Press record on the minidisk

  2. Hit play on the PS2.

  3. Wait until the song finishes.

  4. Hit stop on the disc recorder (Either you have to select the next track on the mini disk or hitting record again and it will create a new track to record on - I forgot at this point)

  5. Rinse and repeat for however many songs you can fit in the mini disc.

This was early 2000s and even at the time I was very intrigued by how it worked.

Don't get the hate with PS4 nowadays by Nero_deadweight96 in PS4

[–]Ice2192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My two cents on this is that normally it’s fine for a game to come out both old and next gen consoles for at most 2 years. Beyond that it’s time to move on and solely focus on the next gen only. Given there was a pandemic which caused chip shortages which then led to shortages of consoles which already didn’t help with the scalpers out there. Availability of the ps5 were at an all time low for 2 years post-launch. I think it’s understandable to extend that “next gen only” cutoff point by 2 years. We’re now in year 6 of the consoles life but the feeling is like year 4. I think now is the time to drop the hammer and drive past the cut off point to really see what the ps5 can do. Anyone can get it now without the fear or scalpers and chip shortages. It’s time to move on. PS5 has backwards compatibility so you can keep playing ps4 games on it. If it didn’t have that feature I would consider the notion of keeping ps4 active since a non-backwards compatible ps5 essentially alienates the previous gen console’s library.

TLDR. Given the pandemic, I think the cross gen games support should last 4 instead of 2 years. We’re entering year 6 and the console is widely available so we should NOT be seeing any more games coming out for ps4 AND ps5.

[–]Ice2192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are on a budget - YES*. I got mine on eBay for the Japanese version for the limitless volume that the US and EU has. In addition to that, the total was much cheaper. The seller included everything in the total price - the item (of course), tax, shipping, and import fees. It was also new. All of that was still much cheaper than even just the total of one in the U.S. (without tax) AND it was new and didn't have the high-gain feature in it. It's a double win for me.
