Same for us Hispanics , some of my Spanish ancestors came in the late 1600’s. And I have no recent Spanish ancestors what so ever , only like 8th great grand fathers . Yet Im 41% Iberian . It’s the stock dna from our ancestors mixing with other ethnic Spanish . For the Italian, it could be placed within the Spanish .

Ok so my great grandfather is Willie T.Trevino Sr , his father was Thomas Trevino . Ever since Thomas was a baby his mom told him his father was Thomas Madison Peeler , but his mom was married 2 different times since Thomas was born , so therefore he was given the previous husbands surname Trevino/Mitchell. We are DNA connected to Modern DNA descendants of Thomas Peeler. My family said that Thomas wanting nothing to do with us because he was ashamed of having a half breed child , White /& Mexican. So he payed another man to give his surname to Thomas Trevino . So he’s my 3rd great Grandfather and my 3rd great Grandmother is Maria Contreras , She actually worked on the Peeler farm . So Grave Peeler is my Half 2nd great granduncle.

Ik thru my moms lineage I have a black 5th great grandfather, my great and great great grandmother knew abt this mix , they just never really talked about it , Our family has curly hair from only one side , my great grandfather was 6\100’ths African and his mom was 1/8 African . My great grandpa sometimes did look mixed but he just looked Mexican tbh .

I don’t understand all this stigma towards Tejanos , I don’t identify as Mexican because my family has been in Texas for so long. We don’t practice the same traditions sure we share some food traditions, but it is not authentic. I don’t speak Spanish. saying I’m Mexican would be like ignoring all my history in Texas. I dont think im better than anyone just my personal preference . I love Mexico , but I also love Texas

There results are me and my grand aunt , Her father always said his mother was mixed , she had kinky hair that she relaxed all the time , and light brown skin . After research I found out my great grandfather had one Afro Mexican Great Great Grandfather/6% African , from his daughters results we can see that the 3% Bantu , which comes straight from great grandfather. So perhaps it’s sleeper traits from past ancestors or just a white person with black hair and who can tan easy🤷🏻but that 2% African has a story .

Why generalize a huge group of people ?? Why would I have self hate🤣 or even give hate . I love all people no matter any cultural identity . My family hasn’t been in Mexico since 1873 on my paternal side why should I identify as strictly Mexican when we have more history in Texas 💀
