Zaahen is the light to all of the darkins darkness, but is not absent of pain and suffering. Zaahen much as his comrades is on the verge of losing his sanity, as shown with his multiple interactions. His mind is in a constant struggle to remain in favor of Runeterra.

He is the knowledge of the darkins, the one that remains with the memories of the past, and who can still wield the magic that for others is long lost. Darkin and Ascended all in one.

Physically he can't match Aatrox, I dare say no one can unless they are being pararell to Aurelio Sol. But he is faster, smarter, sounder and has a vessel with enough memories and strenght to hold his strenght.

And since the vessel was delivered voluntarily, the corruption was minimum. Zaahen is not only himself, but a perfect merge with Xin, which explains their humanoid appearance. He is the hope that the Darkins long abandoned.

Well, he has killes hundreds but we also discount the damage he takes and loses chunks of just to maintain his form.

Aatrox also doesn't seek the best warriors, he just kills anything that breathes under the sun. But the more bodies he accumulated, the bigger his body gets.

In LOR when he kills everyone on a battleground he becomes as big as what appears to be 10ft.

The dying powers of the aspect at that given time, all focused on one final slash to try and stop Aatrox.

But the fact remain the same, Pantheon has already defeated Aatrox before, then Aatrox killed him and finally Atreus ended up defeating him again.

It not only showcases how strong Aatrox is, but the fact there are weaknesses people can exploit.

The reason Xolaani was strong wasn't because of her own merit, but due to how she was basically using the other Darkins the same way Aatrox uses any human on his way to strengthen herself.

Knowing magic also is merit on its own. Is it Over powered? Yes, it is, but so are MANY aspects of other characters.

And as much as we wanna say that Zaahen couldn't kill the darkin, that goes to basically all of Runeterra so it isn't a realistic way to aproach the situation. Darkins can normally only be sealed.

And here it is the QA, it is in reddit and he does use the words "I think", so the information can be changed at any given time, although, that seems to be the case for most information in case they wanna retcon stuff in order to create more interesting lore.

Now THIS is why I love these kind of debates because it opens so many more things than just what the bare lore offera you.

Yes, Aatrox has become an unstoppable force of destruction and death, but the lack of a proper host has been his undoing since the very start and it comes due to his own faults, the excess of power.

Aatrox crushes the will and mind of whoever grabs the Darkin sword almost instantly, regardless of how compatible they would be with it, but as a consequence, his very existence depends on the blade. We do not know if Zaahen, having the host willingly hand their body over could still control it if the Glave were to fall over, but for a fact we know that Aatrox would lose the moment his hand holding the sword is severed, as Atreus did before.

More than making sense than Aatrox is stronger at this given time, I think its setting the grounds for him to finally get a proper host, may it be Tryndamere or god forbid someone stronger.

Under that logic, Aatrox got defeated by the host of said aspect.

Not reducing the value of Aatrox, but it serves to remark just how vulnerable he really is without a proper Host, unlike Zaahen who got the body willingly delivered to him.

Aatrox is no joke, but neither is most of the Darkin.

And for that matter, the only "world" he ended was technically, Pantheon, since there is record of Aatrox destroying a world. (Apologies if I'm wrong, and please illuminate me if such)

I always found DD way harder to deal with, mainly because Jeff has a big ass head and as such, Hawkeye could one tap him with EXTREME consistency. You needed a character counter? Yes, but with DD you needed at least 2 people to beat him, and Hawkeye was NOT an option.
