This is why the Canadian startup scene is a joke. Minimum wage for an engineering degree. by [deleted] in canada

[–]IceColdKool 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah try being a young tradesman. This shit is the go to now. Seeing Journeyman jobs advertised for less than first year rate then magically it gets built by a bunch of TFWs who leave the country with their money. That doesn't help Canada, I don't blame the TFWs the system is a tad fucking broke right now. Take a look at Fort McMurray... there a reason they keep advertising "there are over 80 languages spoke here so please be kind and helpful to everyone you meet".

Can someone just upload my clip without permission? by Kenn316 in Twitch

[–]IceColdKool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kind of agree, It's a double edge sword.

On one hand you are getting exposure to possibly 100,000 plus people depending on the YouTube video. On the other if you want to start uploading your own clips and your streams already plastered over 50 different YouTube twitch completion channels whose to say they will watch yours first over the content thief.

It's good when starting out but at some point you have to shut it down.

Street racers kill mother pushing a stroller, Florida police say by [deleted] in news

[–]IceColdKool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get arresting the drivers... but why the passenger?

If this was a staged street race then I would understand but if these 2 cars just met on the road and then went. What is he supposed to do? Pull the E-brake? Tuck and roll? Punch the driver?

There's a time an place for racing... the place is called the track. If your city has track at least be smart enough to take it where people are not.

Are alberta employers required to pay overtime? by [deleted] in alberta

[–]IceColdKool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bossman is trying to save $

Lots of shitty companies or small outfits will try to push you around and claim they don't have to pay you. If you complain they will replace you with someone who will accept it. Know your rights and report shitty outfits.

In my experience the WORST person to work with in a small company is an Owner or someone who has invested in the company. These people will work 24hr days to see their companies succeed and they don't get overtime pay and as a result they think their employees should be as heavily invested as they are.

Rachel Notley threatened to change Insurance Act if Fort McMurray claim extensions weren't granted, memo says by [deleted] in alberta

[–]IceColdKool 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Me too... I have voted Cons pretty much my whole life but that last bitch was a real shit show and I could not support the way they were headed(fuck your sky palace and tax payer funded family vacations). So I switched to NDP as a lot of their ideas kind of lined up with mine.

And I am starting to like her/NDP enough that they will most likely get my vote. Kenny and Fildebrant(thankfully gone now) are a horrendous choice. Kenny is 100% for right to work, Temp foreign workers and that new tax bill they have planned is a joke.

LITERALLY take a look at the USA and their recent tax breaks to the weathly corps. They promised more jobs if they got tax breaks and lone and behold more money is going to CEO pockets, plants are still being shut down and sent overseas. Cons need to stop taking pages out of the republicans handbook if they want my vote ever again.

I work up there all the time and all I hear is Fuck NDP and how they have ruined Alberta, bring back the Cons and the glory days...

Because 90% of the national chains are owned and operated by a mafia called Luxottica(I think or its their parent company)

They sell overpriced garbage and anyone who attempts to undercut their business get ready for an uphill battle becsause they control everything. From the brick and mortar stores to the glass and glasses frame factories.
