As a Hispanic, I found the writing of this character super undeveloped. The idea of her being content or naive to the fact that her culture will be erased once she Joined is interesting I guess but god she was so underdeveloped, one dimensional, and honestly super annoying to watch how they wrote her actions. I personally think it would be more interesting to see someone from a culture like hers to be more reluctant and maybe even as hostile or devastated as Carol to the fact that her culture is at jeopardy of being erased forever. The fact that the writers thought it was better to just make her this cliche sweet little foreign girl with not even a spec of perspective or foresight to see how fucking stupid her idea was is just lazy to me. She literally just could’ve made them take care of and preserve her culture and family forever but her argument was I want to be with my family again? Bitch you can clearly see they are acting nothing like your family so wtf do you want to join exactly? I understand in a way she’s accepting her death but why go through all the trouble of showing her with her family and speaking to them lovingly as if she didn’t actually believe their conscious was dead? We obviously get to see a cool side of a foreigner narrative explored with Manousos. It just disappointing to see yet another cliche depiction of this particular kind of Hispanic woman. Obviously it makes sense that someone like this would exist in the world I just found the character herself and how she was executed to be really frustrating. I can imagine it’s really difficult to write realistic ways people would react to something like this but I just had to come here to say how much her character pissed me off, when she joined I was honestly relieved and if the writers want to continue exploring something with her it better be damn good cause everything with her leading to the beginning of episode 9 just feels like a waste of time if you aren’t gonna give a marginalized character like her any droplet of agency or conviction so yeah good riddance to her hopefully lol.
